We are now looking for a Research Engineer – CAE (FEM/CFD) to join our Tech & Research team. This role is suited for someone who is analytical, technically curious, and excited to apply advanced simulation methods to real product challenges, helping our gear continue to set new standards for safety and performance.

The Job

As Research Engineer for CAE, you will be responsible for FEM and CFD simulation work supporting research projects, feasibility studies, and product development across POC. Working closely with designers, engineers, and research partners, you will simulate geometries and materials to reduce reliance on full-scale physical testing and provide the technical grounding for new product ideas.

You will maintain our FEM and CFD processes, run simulations across dynamic events, impact and crash scenarios, composite materials, polymers and foams, thermal behavior, and transient conditions, and translate results into clear recommendations. This is a hands-on, research-driven role that sits at the intersection of theory, engineering, and product innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Planning: Build timelines based on the research question and project lead's planning. Track open questions and risks, following up with all stakeholders.
  • Simulation & Analysis: Plan and define use cases, mesh and set up models, run FEM/CFD simulations, analyze results, and recommend actions.
  • Virtual Lab Development: Develop and maintain our virtual lab as an ongoing research capability.
  • Design Support: Advise designers on possibilities, constraints, and ideas for new designs and constructions grounded in research.
  • Documentation: Maintain a structured material and simulation database on our servers.
  • Presentation & Decision Support: Prepare presentations and decision material for internal forums and meetings.
  • Innovation Work: Contribute to the development of new techniques and technologies within the category.

Skills & Requirements

To be successful in this role you are likely to have:

  • A master's degree (Civilingenjör) in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Physics, or a related field, with a focus on structural analysis, numerical methods, or fluid mechanics.
  • 3–5 years of relevant work experience, with required hands-on experience in dynamic FEM simulation, impact analysis, and CFD.
  • Experience with polymer materials, energy absorption, or protective equipment is meriting.
  • Proficiency with Altair suite (Hypermesh, Radioss, AcuSolve etc), but experience from other CAE platforms can be useful as well. Along with skills within Python.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple parallel projects.
  • Strategic thinking: the ability to understand how the product impacts the company and brand, both short and long term, and to translate that insight into practice.
  • A collaborative approach, working well with designers across product categories, colleagues, customers, suppliers, and other recipients of project results.
  • Fluency in English (Swedish is a plus).
