Founded in 2012, Jumia’s mission is to improve the quality of everyday life in Africa by leveraging technology to deliver innovative, convenient and affordable online services to consumers, while helping businesses grow as they use its platform to reach and serve consumers.

Jumia's platforms consist of its marketplace, which connects sellers with consumers, its logistics service, which enables the shipment and delivery of packages from sellers to consumers, and its payment service, which facilitates transactions among participants active on the Jumia platform.

Project Description

Jumia is looking for an experienced marketer who will be responsible for the development and leadership of its strategic plan and vision for digital platform development.

This will include website content, e-commerce, personalization, testing, marketing, and digital technology.

The ideal candidate is someone with a successful track record to drive revenue, user acquisition and brand awareness.

You will be required to work in partnership with the commercial team on planning and to ensure that country targets are met.

You should be someone who is passionate about the “art” of marketing and digital communication and has an abundance of ideas for building and executing efficient strategies.

Key Project Deliverables

  • Accountable for operational digital marketing performance on your channel (ie. reach ROI KPI targets)

  • Lead optimization and automation projects on your channel to support a scalable company growth

  • Full responsibility of channels – ie. Facebook & Instagram Ads, Google Display Ads, Google Search Ads, Search engine optimization (SEO), or CRM (ie. email marketing, push notifications, SMS.)

  • Full hands-on responsibility to manage up to several hundred thousand euros of online advertising budget.

  • Work in close collaboration with marketing partners - including but not limited to Google, Facebook, and Salesforce.

  • Delivery of continuous optimization and automation of working practices on your channel on top of your operational accountability. This includes having the freedom of proposing and designing automation processes such as machine learning algorithms in order to improve the results of the channel.

Skills & Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience working in a similar role as well as experience building effective multi-channel marketing strategies, including affiliate marketing, PPC, SEO, social media and other digital channels.

  • Excellent communication skills in English, and willingness to be immersed in a very international and entrepreneurial environment

  • Sharp, analytical mind and an entrepreneurial spirit

  • Data analytics project and experience are a must, knowledge of the basic optimization algorithms

  • Knowledge and/or willingness to learn web & digital marketing techs (HTML, JavaScript, Python, SQL)

  • Proficiency in advanced excel mandatory, javascript / google app scripts a plus

  • Level-headed and can express ideas in a clear and impactful manner
