Would you be thrilled at exploring unknown areas of journalism and developing a pioneering product for the youngest audience? Join the Aftenposten Junior Skole team to contribute to the educational mission among children in Norway!
Aftenposten Junior Skole is a platform dedicated to primary and lower secondary school students and their teachers, where the various material, texts and podcasts developed specifically for children are used in daily education.
Our mission is to make children in Norway better readers and strengthen their ability to influence their own lives and participate in public debate.
Even though the product has been already developed for two years, you will join a new team dedicated solely to this project, as we now face the challenge of taking it to the upper level. The team will consist of three developers (hopefully including you!), Product Manager, Lena, who is based in Norway, and Engineering Manager, Weronika, based in Poland. We will also collaborate with Carl, our UX and UI designer.
Who are we looking for? Positive, open–minded person. JS developer with a holistic approach to product, who is able to see the big perspective and not just focus on tech parts in isolation. Someone who is interested in solving problems, not fixing single tasks.
In this role, you will mostly use Node.js, Typescript, and React (Next.js). You will be working with GraphQL and Apollo, modern robust stack (UIkit, styled–components), databases (MySQL, Redis, Elasticsearch), testing frameworks, CI tools (Travis), and cloud platforms (AWS, Convox). In addition, you will closely collaborate with our stakeholders in Norway.
We look for senior, as well as regular developers.

You will work with talented and ambitious people that bring their experience to elevate our journalism through great digital products.
