About Northvolt Poland:

Northvolt Poland (Northvolt Battery Systems Jeden) is the facility to build battery modules and energy storage solutions located in Gdańsk, Poland. It consists of state-of-the-art production facility and R&D center. Northvolt Battery Systems Jeden has entered production and is ramping up to 10,000 modules/year. The capacity will be expanded gradually over the following years as Northvolt ramps up its production of battery cells in Sweden.

In response to anticipated increased production demand Northvolt Poland enters into Stage 2 of its set-up in Gdańsk building an independent mass production factory for Battery Systems (Northvolt Battery Systems Dwa).

For further development of our organization in Poland we are enlarging our management crew, searching for bold, experienced and passioned candidates, eager to take the challenge of joining Northvolt’s green revolution.

The position:

We are now seeking to recruit a Maintenance Manager to join our Operations team. This function will be responsible for overseeing maintenance on all manufacturing machinery and equipment in a dedicated plant. This includes new installation, upgrades, renovations, repairs, maintenance, inspections and replacement of any manufacturing equipment in an entrusted facility.

Key responsibilities

  • Responsible for the safe installation, maintenance, repair or replacement of plant equipment and systems to ensure maximum production quantity and quality.
  • Review the operation of plant equipment and systems constantly, to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate solve problems in a timely manner, and to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Perform maintenance management on all fronts by supervising maintenance engineers and technicians.
  • Develop, implement and manage plant maintenance program based on best practices in the automated manufacturing industry, with an emphasis on preventive/predictive maintenance.
  • Ensure routine calibration, validation and maintenance requirements of a variety of electro-mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems are undertaken and controlled.
  • Manage the process of the introduction of new machinery and equipment from drawing up the specification, to managing suppliers through to full installation in collaboration with all relevant parties.
  • Perform root cause analysis for any abnormal conditions/ failures, take required corrective and preventive actions to avoid recurrence of such conditions.
  • Manage the process of disposal of obsolete machinery, plant and equipment from gaining agreement to write off to physically removing it and its safe and lawful disposal.
  • Establish, manage and monitor the use and inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment as well as order necessary parts, tools, equipment, etc. in a timely manner by following company policies.
  • Track, analyze and improve key maintenance parameters such as utility consumption data, maintenance cost, schedule compliance, etc and circulate it for management review.
  • Manage contractors and service providers on site to ensure they meet legal and company requirements.
  • Directs maintenance activities on utilities systems to provide continuous supply of energy, electrical power, steam and compressed air required for operations.
  • Ensure machinery and equipment compliance with code of practice, labor, safety, health and environmental regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain maintenance logs and report on daily activities.
  • Other duties assigned by the Company.

Skills & Requirements

Qualifications/education/experience

  • BSc or MSc in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent University degree with good understanding of basic financial principles
  • Proven Leadership in large Manufacturing Organizations (50+ people)
  • Experience in the modern Operations Management principles: Lean, Kaizen, Six Sigma,
  • An example driven management of the shop floor. Resolute 5S
  • Capacity to move from strategic level to problem solving leader in the matter of seconds

Specific skills (e.g. specific programmes, languages, certifications etc.)

  • Must be fluent in English, written and oral
  • Polish language is strongly wished
  • Polish legislation and work environment
