About Northvolt Poland:

Northvolt Poland (Northvolt Battery Systems Jeden) is the facility to build battery modules and energy storage solutions located in Gdańsk, Poland. It consists of state-of-the-art production facility and R&D center. Northvolt Battery Systems Jeden has entered production and is ramping up to 10,000 modules/year. The capacity will be expanded gradually over the following years as Northvolt ramps up its production of battery cells in Sweden.

In response to anticipated increased production demand Northvolt Poland enters into Stage 2 of its set-up in Gdańsk building an independent mass production factory for Battery Systems (Northvolt Battery Systems Dwa).

For further development of our organization in Poland we are enlarging our management crew, searching for bold, experienced and passioned candidates, eager to take the challenge of joining Northvolt’s green revolution.

The position:
We are now seeking to recruit a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to join our Operations team. The primary purpose of this role is to design, develop, implement, nurture and sustain processes and equipment for manufacturing.

Key responsibilities

  • Design, develop, characterize, optimize and validate manufacturing equipment, assembly lines and processes for Northvolt’s high performance battery systems
  • Lead equipment selection and production solution creation with structured project management while also developing industry partnerships for automation and production equipment design
  • Influence design to optimize manufacturability up front, driving improvement in cost and quality
  • Leads technical procurements with suppliers for equipment, tools and machinery purchasing, from pre-study to installation and hand-over of equipment and machinery. Supports Procurement Manager in commercial aspects during negotiations of machinery and equipment, engages in vendor selection
  • Initiate new processes and improve existing processes to enhance interoffice communication, product documentation and supplier coordination
  • Collaborates with cross functional teams from R&D, Quality & Safety and Production – Northvolt Poland to ensure a successful launch to production of new product concepts
  • Leads FAT (at supplier) and supports SAT at Northvolt Poland for commissioning of machinery and equipment
  • Perform other tasks assigned by superiors

Qualifications/education/experience

  • 5+ yrs of experience implementing practical production processes, comprehensively, at high speed
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • experience in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering within a manufacturing context (ideal)
  • Familiarity with battery module/pack, electronics, semiconductor, automotive or other similar industries high volume manufacturing.
  • Experience in discrete manufacturing line design and equipment selection
  • Knowledge of prototype integration, testing and design validation processesEnglish fluency required

About the company

Northvolt was founded in 2016 with the mission to build the world’s greenest battery cell, with a minimal carbon footprint and the highest ambitions for recycling, to enable the European transition to renewable energy. Northvolt’s team of experts is building the next generation battery cell factory focused on process innovation, scale and vertical integration.
