If you are the kind of person who believes the answers are found in data. If a love relationship with data also extends to spreading the word on Data Culture; then hello there! Blocket is looking for you.
We are convinced it's a match made in data heaven (all our analytics services in the cloud. Pun intended!). We can offer huge amounts of data to work with: 5 million users every week contribute to an endless supply of data and insights. Every week, every day, all year long.
Your mission, together with the rest of the Insight & Analytics team, is to collaboratively drive a data-first culture across Blocket. With such a mission we contribute to endless opportunities for everyone while at the same time reducing the carbon footprint for the people of Sweden. That is creating WOW!
We are Blocket, Sweden’s largest and most popular marketplace with around 12,3M monthly active users generating over 100 million sessions. We are proud of our impact on second-hand trade in Sweden, enabling more sustainable ways of shopping. Want to get a feel of the Blocket vibe? What you’ll be up to
Blocket is a marketplace but it’s really an ensemble of marketplaces that all stem from the well known blocket.se for second-hand goods. Blocket is built on different technologies and the product domains look different depending on the different marketplaces; Generalist, Motor, Real Estate, Jobs and Education - hence the data looks different too.
The Data Engineering Manager role includes managing a team of three Data Engineers as well as working hands-on. Managerial tasks and administrational duties are estimated to be about 30% of working time, but leadership is a behaviour that can’t be measured in time.
Schibsted has its own tracking service and a majority of behavioural data is fetched from a Schibsted central data lake in AWS. Working closely with the central team and Common initiatives will be important for all data engineers in Blocket, especially the Data Engineering Manager, who needs to stay on-top of need-to-have collaboration for federation of data. And as our products evolve, so does our data - so being able to overview our data ecosystem as well as manage analytics needs is essential.
Blocket is simplifying and migrating our existing data warehouse solution to a centrally, Schibsted managed Common Data warehouse during 2022. Which explicitly means 3 work streams; Maintain business as usual, simplify and revamp our DE stack and migrate DWH.

Hi! I am your new colleague, Emil.
My name is Emil and I'm 31 years old. I am fairly new at Blocket, although I have been working in Data & Analytics for over four years in different roles and companies. As a Data Engineer I enjoy making data understandable, whether it be by transforming raw data into an easy-to-consume format for business users, or by simplifying and optimising a data warehouse model. Working with large amounts of data from the most popular marketplace in the country while serving an environmental purpose makes it really fun and fulfilling to work at Blocket.
Hello, I am Ismail and I help companies to make better business decisions through data analysis. - I torture data until it confesses!
Being a Data Analyst at Blocket has allowed me not only to use my engineering mindset to solve technical problems but also creating real value to the company mainly on the product and business fronts. Having the opportunity to work at one of the most used products in Sweden, has given me the chance to learn much more about life than it is about data: How do our users behave in our products? Do we see different user segments across different parts of Sweden? How can we better target our users that are aligned with their tastes and preferences?...
The culture in the team is unmatched and I have the ability to collaborate with amazing colleagues all while having fun. Within the team, diversity is king, not only from the cultural perspective, but also from the technical skills point of view. That helps me to discuss with my colleagues pretty much anything I am curious about in the data science field.
Transforming data into insights is a long enjoyable funnel where I always had the opportunity to meet different people in different positions within the company (Product Managers, Engineering Managers, Top Managers...) which has created a lot of variations in my day to day work and helped me to learn from different people in the organization.
Hi, I am your new manager!
My name is Lukas and I’ve been with Blocket for about 4 years. I’ve worked in analytical and data related roles throughout my entire career, although the contexts have changed over the years. My goal as a manager is to create the best possible conditions for our team to thrive. I try to keep a personal touch in my leadership, strive for a transparent and feedback oriented culture. Honestly, I don’t spend as much time “hands-on” with data as I would like, but when I do - I enjoy it immensely. When I’m not working I try to spend as much time as I can with my family (4 daughters and wife) but try to squeeze in as much time on my skateboard/snowboard or in the saddle exploring the unpedaled roads on my bike. I do bring out the guitar for birthdays and live music quizzes, motivation rather than talent though. Come join our team, it will be loads of fun! :)
Interested in joining the Blocket world?
We look forward to hearing from you! Send your CV or apply with your LinkedIn-profile and let us know what makes you tick. We would love to get to know you a bit better!

A great, modern office in central Stockholm
Breakfast every Monday and fika on Fridays
The Blocket journey began in Skåne 1996 - since then the concept of Blocket has been exported to over 40 other countries. Today, Blocket, which is owned by the media group Schibsted, is Sweden’s largest online marketplace. There are approximately 600 000 items, vehicles, jobs and housing being advertised and discovered by its 5 million visitors every week. The value for all advertisements in 2018 amounted to SEK 714 billion - equal to 15 percent of Sweden’s GDP. Thanks to second-hand trading at Blocket, 0.8 million tonnes of greenhouse gases can be avoided every year. The output being equivalent to if Stockholm’s city roads stood empty for about a year. Blocket has approximately 240 colleagues and the office is located in central Stockholm. Together, we are passionate about second-hand trading, the environment and the continued growth of Blocket - one of Sweden’s largest sites. We are proud environmental heroes and enjoy working together. Read more on our career page.
