About Northvolt Poland:

Northvolt Poland (Northvolt Battery Systems Jeden) is the facility to build battery modules and energy storage solutions located in Gdańsk, Poland. It consists of state-of-the-art production facility and R&D center. Northvolt Battery Systems Jeden has entered production and is ramping up to 10,000 modules/year. The capacity will be expanded gradually over the following years as Northvolt ramps up its production of battery cells in Sweden.

In response to anticipated increased production demand Northvolt Poland enters into Stage 2 of its set-up in Gdańsk building an independent mass production factory for Battery Systems (Northvolt Battery Systems Dwa).

For further development of our organization in Poland we are enlarging our management crew, searching for bold, experienced and passioned candidates, eager to take the challenge of joining Northvolt’s green revolution.

The position:

Quality Manager is handling of overall Quality in the dedicated plant, including Quality Assurance, Quality Engineering and Quality Management System as an end-to-end process from the supplier to the cutomer

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead and direct the Quality Dep (Quality engineers, inspectors, auditors, analysts, etc.) in entrusted facility
  • Manage the monitoring, measurement, and review of internal processes that affect the quality of the products.
  • Implement improvements to production processes that lead to overall increases in product quality
  • Oversee all product development procedures to identify deviations from quality standards
  • Ensure that the factory’s Quality Management System conforms to customer, internal, ISO 9001, and regulatory/legal requirements.
  • Understand customer expectations of and needs from a product
  • Report to top management on the performance of the QMS (e.g., results of quality audits, corrective actions), including the need for improvement.
  • Monitor the production line and do periodic quality control checks
  • Create quality control plans for new products to guarantee quality from stage one
  • Coordinate inspection (examination) of incoming materials, ensuring that they fulfil requirements.
  • Examine the quality of materials that are used in production.
  • Evaluate final output of products to determine their quality and reject products that fail quality standards
  • Evaluate product recalls
  • Monitor of all the QA activities, root cause analysis and identifying areas of improvement.
  • Implement steps required to improve the processes.
  • Assess the effectiveness of changes made
  • Regularly analyze quality data and suggest actions based on collected data
  • Provide technical leadership and expertise within the field of Quality and Process.
  • Work with purchasing staff to establish quality requirements from external suppliers
  • Train and support employees in terms of quality and process
  • Perform other tasks assigned by superiors

Qualifications/education/experience

  • Bachelor or master’s degree in engineering, quality or a related field
  • Proven 5+ yrs of experience as a Quality Manager
  • Familiarity with Quality and Engineering processes
  • In depth understanding of quality control procedures and relevant legal standards
  • Experience in manufacturing environment

Specific skills (e.g. specific programmes, languages, certifications etc.)

  • Documented knowledge in the area of ISO 9001 is a strong advantage
  • Fluent English
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office, relational databases and ERPs
  • Knowledge of standard root cause analisys tools (Ishikawa, 5W, 8M, etc.

About the company

Northvolt was founded in 2016 with the mission to build the world’s greenest battery cell, with a minimal carbon footprint and the highest ambitions for recycling, to enable the European transition to renewable energy. Northvolt’s team of experts is building the next generation battery cell factory focused on process innovation, scale and vertical integration. Once completed, it will be Europe’s largest battery cell factory and produce 32 GWh worth of capacity annually.
