The Product Marketing Manager will have responsibility for supporting Basware’s Procurement Services offerings within the Global Product Marketing Team. The role will also be responsible for communicating and positioning Basware’s best-of-breed ecosystem approach to source-to-pay automation. Your responsibility is to understand your buying audiences, competitive and market landscape, and create global messaging and positioning of your services portfolio to address the challenges of your audience. You manage buyer and market insights, value proposition and messaging, as well as sales and marketing materials for your services portfolios.

You will strive to become an expert in the audience-centric marketing approach, ensuring that messaging, content and campaign strategies are centered around customers’ buying needs. You will communicate latest product innovations and service capabilities to the customer base, as well as lead the marketing launch of new services. You will also become a subject-matter expert of your solution areas for the rest of the marketing teams. As part of the role you will evangelize solutions in your portfolio and their key differentiators to prospects, customers, partners and Basware employees.

You will work closely with various members from the Marketing teams including Content Marketing, Partner Marketing, Field Marketing, Analyst Relations, Sales and Marketing Operations. You are a close colleague and market advisor to Product Management as they continuously develop new services and improve existing services. The role requires you to be dynamic and agile in your creative thinking as well as be able to provide commercial insight to product and service development as it happens.

The Product Marketing Manager will report to the VP, Product & Partner Marketing and work in a global team consisting of Product Marketing, Content Strategy and Partner Marketing. You will work day-to-day and take direction on projects and workload from your manager, but also be expected to manage and prioritize your own schedule based on the team and business’ needs.

Your responsibilities will include:

Insights and messaging

  • Develop insights and value propositions – Develop buyer personas, value propositions, messaging and positioning for the procurement and sourcing portfolio
  • Know competitive landscape – understand the competitive landscape and how to succeed in the marketplace against key competitors

Go-to-Marketing portfolio innovations

  • Advocate innovations – communicate about new capabilities delivered by Basware in its product portfolio to improve Basware’s share of voice and share of wallet
  • Launch services – plan the Go-to-Market activities around functional enhancements and new services and execute the launch through marketing


  • Enable marketing - create high quality marketing content together with the content team and external agencies
  • Enable sales – communicate the value proposition of products to the sales team and develop sales tools that support the selling process for your services

Thought leadership

  • Leverage expertise you gain from market, competitive and buyer insights to influence Basware’s product strategy and roadmap in your area of expertise
  • Strive to become a thought-leader and act as a subject-matter expert for various stakeholder groups: industry analysts, prospects, customers and general financial audiences

Skills & Requirements

We would enjoy working with a professional who is/has:

  • Bachelor, Master's degree or MBA
  • Excellent communication and writing skills to native English standard

  • 5+ years of experience in a Marketing role, preferably with specialist skills and knowledge of financial and / or Procurement applications

  • Experience in procure-to-pay or in finance related technology/services, preferably SaaS, is preferred

  • Customer orientated mindset

  • Be an innovative and creative thinker

  • Recognized subject matter expert in product marketing, with ability to develop it further

  • Demonstrable skills in developing product positioning and tailoring messages to specific buyer audiences that helps sales to win against the competition in the market

  • Demonstrable skills in developing customer-driven buyer journey using information gathered from buying audiences and industry reports

  • Financial / Procurement industry experience is a major advantage. Understanding or willingness to master Procurement processes is needed

  • Ability to understand the nuances of a global organization and product portfolio and customize the message for various geographies, as appropriate

  • Analyst or consulting background a plus
