General summary

We’re looking for a credit controller to take responsibility for the collection of co-edition and rights sales for Bonnier Books UK. The ideal candidate will forecast when receipts are due and report to senior management when debt becomes overdue and at risk of not being collected. You’ll also maintain accurate records of the due debt on the sales ledger and resolve any queries raised by customers in the billing process.

Essential job functions/responsibilities

  • Review weekly overdue debt, chase customers for all overdue invoices, and record potential receipt dates for debt due in current week.
  • Check daily cash receipts are allocated to ledger correctly.
  • Deal with customer queries associated with the billing process and liaise with the sales ledger accounts assistant on action required.
  • Flag any withholding tax issue holding up receipts to the sales ledger accounts assistant and manage the applications for tax forms to ensure collections are not delayed.
  • Send customer statements and balances monthly.
  • Assist with maintaining sales ledger making sure each account accurately reports the debt due.
  • Alert foreign sales team and senior management to customers who are slow to pay and advise if the account should be put on hold.
  • Advise if a payment plan is required to collect debt from slow payers and communicate this with the customer. Monitor and report the debt collection on payment plans.
  • Manage outside debt collectors where debt has proven too difficult to collect.
  • Credit check new customers where required.
  • Provide head of central finance with a weekly cash forecast for cashflow purposes.
  • Provide monthly an AR aging report and stop report to management and attend monthly debt meetings with the finance director and commercial finance director to discuss collection issues.
  • Provide the finance manager with a monthly overdue list with analysis of debt provision and total debt listing.
  • Assist the head of finance with ad-hoc reports as required.
