Mentimeter serves hundreds of millions of users with services that we deploy roughly 40 times a week. With transaction loads up to hundreds of votes per second, we have to be sure we can scale while still delivering a fast and smooth experience.

We work in small, independent, cross-functional and self-organizing teams. The team’s product manager and the team work together to organize and plan the team’s backlog with a focus on continuously delivering value to our users.

Currently, we are starting up a new cross-department team focusing on improving the holistic user experience on the web page. The team will be co-staffed by Marketing and Product and thus we are looking for a talented Frontend Engineer/Web Developer to help start up the team. We offer a friendly but fast-paced environment where you will be challenged with technically difficult tasks and be given a lot of responsibility from day one.

What you'll do

You will be starting up our new Organic Acquisition Team, a cross-functional team that will be composed of key roles from both Product and Marketing.

You will take the role of Tech Lead in the team. This means you will do a lot of hands-on development but also take a lot of responsibility making sure the technical solutions scale and hold a high level of quality. As a Lead, we also expect you to take our Frontend craft to the next level and enable us to onboard more junior engineers.

You will balance discovery and implementation work, new customer facing features and managing tech debt and technical initiatives.

Since Employee Experience (also known as Developer Experience) is very important to us, we expect you to raise your voice by influencing which tools, programming languages, and technologies you work with while helping us ensure we have a smooth software pipeline for continuous and fast delivery.

Skills & Requirements

Who you are

For this particular role, we believe that you have experience working with content management systems. We currently use Contentful so having worked with that before is a plus.

We would love it if you are experienced in 3rd party testing technologies such as for example Split.io, Optimizely & Google Experiment.

We believe you know your way around Page Speed Optimization and have an interest in UX design.

Since this team is all about G.R.O.W.T.H, you are likely motivated by things like KPIs, lead generation and using an experiment driven approach.

Google optimize, Google analytics and Google tag manager will be part of your daily tool-box so any experience with those will be a strong merit.

Since this is also a Tech Lead role, we believe you have at least five years of experience as a developer and through it you have gained a good understanding of frontend development for the web. With where we are right now, we believe you'd ideally have some React experience, but would also welcome your application if you have a lot of experience working with other frontend frameworks that could add value.

In addition to being a good cultural fit (see our values below), we hope that you bring a passion for software development, scalable architecture and building great products. For us, is it important that everyone cares about code quality so an interest in both testing and automation will be something we will be looking for. Experience with writing test-driven frontend code is something we would appreciate but have no exact requirements for which framework you are used to.

Excellent communication skills and being able to work both independently and in a team are some other traits we are looking for in all of our colleagues.
