HOW IT WORKS
Get Matched: Apply and get matched with a VFA startup partner in your area of interest.
Get Immersed: Spend 3 months in this role, during which you will be immersed in the local context, be connected to expert mentors, and get to understand market nuances.
Get Working: Work on real project deliverables for your assigned startups while being paid a stipend.
Get Hired: While full-time roles are not guaranteed, you are fast-tracked through ordinary application processes for available full-time roles with the startup post the fellowship
Startup Partner: AjoCard
AjoCard is a fintech company that makes it easy for consumers to operate digitally. The company has designed, built, and launched a technical platform to reduce the friction in everyday financial transactions, whether it is to improve savings for consumers removed from financial services, or banked consumers without access to their financial transaction platforms due to location.
AjoCard enables these transactions everywhere using a combination of technology (such as software and mobile POSs) and an expanding agency platform.
AjoCard is looking for an individual with significant operations experience to serve as both a strategic partner and a hands-on, cross-functional leader to help actively grow the business.
This person will report directly to the CEO and will be broadly responsible for and manage the operations, including sales and support functions (P&L for savings, lending and insurance); agent acquisition, agent network development and production; microfinance banking operations and regulatory reporting; and, data acquisition and utilization.
The individual will closely partner with the CEO to ensure that the senior leadership team, board of directors and broader team are optimally supported to do the important work of the organization.
Serve as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, developing and implementing strategies that accelerate the direction and execution of the organization
Partner with the Senior Leadership Team to develop and drive 3-year / 1-year strategic planning that enables AjoCard to perform effectively and scale efficiently
Be responsible for P&L and creating the operational cadence for the senior leadership team
Serve as a key partner with CEO for the board of directors (e.g., coordinate across functions to develop agendas for quarterly board meetings, driving items for board approval, execution of board minutes, etc.)
Reports to: CEO
5+ years of professional experience in business operations, with some experience in technology, and/or the financial services sectors
Operational creativity to think about how to develop and sustain an organization
A willingness to roll up your sleeves and help the team get work done as we they a growing organization
Hands-on experience in fundraising, strategic planning and business development
