As Northvolts Tax Manager, you will be responsible for providing day-to-day tax support to our business, help guide our rapid expansion and development while ensuring full compliance with all local and internationally applicable tax rules.

The Tax Manager works closely with our Finance Team, Business Development Team, Treasury Team, Legal Team, as well as providing excellent and timely tax support to our business units - Covering all aspects of tax - direct and indirect.

Northvolts objective is optimising the cost of tax on our P&L while always being fully compliant and paying our fair share of tax. Further to be closely engaged in analysis to determine the optimal tax set-up pro-actively working with our Business Units, International Activities and Joint Ventures as part of our rapid expansion preparation to deliver the worlds greenest battery.

Manage external tax service providers - as well as - in cooperation with the Finance team - oversee tax compliance providers and liaise with our statutory auditors on tax matters.

Cooperate with accounting and finance in all matters of relevance for tax compliance and ensuring that tax is accounted for correctly in our financial statements and controls over taxation are functioning and checked.

Keeping up-to-date with Tax Law Developments as it develops and changes in the countries where Northvolt is conducting its business.

Minimum 6 years experience working in industry and/or consultancy firm.

Excellent understanding and experience in dealing with various direct and indirect taxes that may affect business, including international taxation and transfer pricing.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Build and develop the tax function for Northvolt.
  • Develop and implement internal systems to compile information, as well as review and authorize the submission of tax reports.
  • Develop corporate policies and authorize/oversee their implementation, as well as recommend ways to minimize corporate tax liability, while staying compliant with tax laws, regulations and the principles and policies of Northvolt.
  • Research tax issues related to acquisitions, restructuring, and/or tax audits.
  • Manage the preparation and filing of tax returns, estimates, and extensions.
  • Prepare the Company’s monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting income tax provision and related financial statement disclosures.
  • Support the organization on financial statement audits from a tax perspective.
  • Manage tax audits.
  • Manage the relationship with external tax services providers.
  • Monitor the Company’s transfer pricing policies and related documentation, including coordination of annual transfer pricing study.
  • Liaise closely with Finance and Legal teams as required.
  • Prepare and present reports to executive management on tax matters.
  • Maintain policies and procedures governing the tax function.
  • Implement, document, and maintain appropriate internal controls over the tax function.

Skills & Requirements


  • Qualified Accountant/Tax Qualification or other
  • Professional Services Experience
  • Experience and interest in manufacturing industry is a plus
