Job Description

The electrification or cars, trucks and busses is one of the most extensive and disruptive industry transformations ever. Northvolt leads this change and aims to become the leading battery partner for the European automotive industry and set new benchmarks for sustainability and CO2 footprint

As a commercial manager, you will work in the forefront of this transformation by working close with our current and future customers on key strategic & commercial topics.

We believe you have a solid background either in management consulting or from a Business Development / Strategy role in the industry. You have a strong commercial judgement and a track record of successfully managing projects and achieving results. As a person we believe you are analytical, structured, like to set and execute plans and meet ambitious targets.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Build & maintain strategic partnerships with customers.
  • Define & follow strategy for overall commercial terms in customer agreements.
  • Set and track business cases for new products and new customers.
  • Work together with Key Account Managers in RFI/RFQ phase to define commercial proposal
  • Involvement in key commercial negotiations with customers
  • Set commercial strategy for the business unit to secure further growth

You will be part of the Automotive & Foundry Business Unit and work closely with our Key Account Managers & Project managers, but also work with other departments such as Strategy, Finance and R&D. You will be based in Stockholm, and travel occasionally to our other sites in Västerås/Skellefteå and to our customers in Europe. The role reports to our Director of Commercial.

Skills & Requirements

Education/Experience

  • MSc, MBA or similar
  • 3-5 years of experience from either a Business Development role or from Management Consulting
  • Successful history of working with commercial topics towards customers/clients
  • Knowledge of battery industry is desirable
  • Startup and growth company experience is a major advantage

Specific Skills/Abilities

  • Excellent English written and oral communication skills in both technical and business environments
  • Strong analytical and presentation skills
  • German or Swedish skills are an advantage
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment, as well as independently
  • Ability to work in a high profile and often high pressure multi-cultural environment
  • Thrive working within tight deadlines and excellent at time management
  • Have plenty of grit, a can-do attitude, an entrepreneurial spirit, a great eye for quality, a sense of humor and a curious mind
  • Is friendly, passionate & purpose driven
