Systems Engineering/Product & Innovation Internship at Northvolt Battery Systems

  • Application Deadline: Aug. 15, 2021
  • Stockholm
  • Application Deadline: Aug. 15, 2021
  • Stockholm

The development team at Northvolt Battery Systems now have two engineering internships to offer for two recently graduated or Master's studying students!

Junior System Engineering Internship

The ESS (Energy Storage System) is a growing field of use for battery products. Connected to the grid, such a system is used as peak-shaving the loads or as back-up power/energy buffer for high loads (such as DC charging). In another application the ESS system can be used to replace diesel generators in a temporary setup and can be used in island mode. (Provides a local grid that is not connected to the main grid).

Our development project within the ESS area have several products as the outcome of the main program.

The objectives of this assignment are to

  • Setting up meetings for internal and external alignments in various technical fields.
  • Coordinate technical questions and design decisions.

This role is a good opportunity for someone who wants to learn more battery system level topics both on high level but also going into some details. Technical knowledge and understanding of electronics/electrical systems is needed for this role.

Innovation and Product Internship

The technical development of battery solutions is continuously ongoing. To be able to offer the latest and most efficient solutions in the electrification field a program is evaluating possible solutions and suppliers for the next generation of module and battery pack solutions for a various range of customer.

  • Support Innovation initiatives at Northvolt Battery Systems - investigate and evaluate innovation initiatives.
  • Support with prototype builds and test setups
  • Cross functional support of product development of battery systems
  • Reach out to component and solutions suppliers in the battery field

This role is a good opportunity for someone who have a good hands-on experience of building mechanical and electrical solutions and want to learn more battery system level topics in a very practical way, also sometimes going into detailed solutions.

Apply before August 15th with CV, cover letter optional. After this, we will start taking applications in to consideration.

6 month internship, fixed monthly compensation.

About the company

Northvolt makes green batteries for a blue planet. Affordable cells and high-quality battery systems. All manufactured with a record-low carbon footprint. Purposely built to provide Europe with the opportunity to switch to renewable energy – efficiently and entirely.

To accomplish this, we do things differently. We design, manufacture, and recycle everything under one roof. We even build our own factories. All this is incredibly challenging and requires us to think in unconventional ways. We’re constantly experimenting, learning and adapting to make batteries so great – they will one day make oil history.

Northvolt is growing fast. We’re staffing our international office in Stockholm, our R&D facility, Northvolt Labs, in Västerås, as well as our Gdansk facility for production of battery systems. We're also hiring for our two gigafactories: Northvolt Ett in Skellefteå, Sweden, and Northvolt Zwei in Salzgitter, Germany. We want to work with smart individuals from all disciplines. Strong individuals that truly want to make a positive impact on the future. Those of us already on board share a passion for our mission. We’re prepared to work hard in pursuit of excellence. We enjoy the ride and our main drive is to make a difference for real. As a team, we’re dedicated to thinking new, working hard and having fun.
