Are you a full stack developer that wants to find and develop future new marketplaces?

Ready for a different and exciting opportunity in FINN.no? Then, please read on!
Future Nordic Marketplaces (FNM) is working to find, nail and scale entirely new marketplace concepts for FINN.no in Norway and for the other Schibsted marketplaces in the Nordics, like Blocket in Sweden and Tori in Finland. We are looking into new areas or brand new ideas within current positions which involve new markets, new business or new technology. To implement our ideas, we invest or collaborate with startups, or start internal projects to build completely new marketplaces. We always work user focused to find the ultimate goal of helping people make smarter choices for themselves and the society.

Today, the department has over twenty engaged people working on four ongoing projects; Mobility, EdTech, B2B and Property. It is a diverse group with different expertises (design, business developers, sales and developers), background, age and gender. We believe this is key for innovation teams. Now we need your help to explore, build and iterate on new ideas and opportunities to enable long term growth.

As a developer in FNM you will be working closely with a team of three business developers and a designer. The cross functional team, with you as the developer, will be responsible for exploring and testing new business areas. You will deepdive into new areas with the goal of finding the next new marketplace for Schibsted. After deciding which bet to take, you will make hypotheses, build prototypes and validate these through experimentation on real users. If the idea shows great potential, we form a team to develop the concept.

What you will be doing

  • As a developer, you will be representing technology in a cross functional team where you are responsible for finding out what is feasible (possible to buy / partner / build), whereas the UX person is responsible for whether it is valuable, and the business developer is responsible for whether it is viable.
  • To be able to find out what is feasible, you will need to communicate with potential partners and other stakeholders inside and outside the organization and share the knowledge in a simple way.
  • You will be responsible for the development of new concepts - all the way from the idea to production. This includes planning of technical scope, clarification, and distribution of tasks within the team, as well as ongoing follow-up with internal and external stakeholders.
  • You will be responsible for technical experiments; Build and iterate on prototypes, pilots and MVPs (minimal viable product) to test new possibilities.
  • For periods you will be developing, other periods there will be no coding, but instead joining user tests, planning and investigation and presentation.
