You will join Region EMEA, a key region within Business Sweden that operates from about 20 local offices across Europe, the middle East and Africa. Our main focus is to grow the advisory part of our business.

To help drive this journey, we are currently looking to grow the team with a Project Manager in Nairobi, Kenya. You have a consulting profile and experience from leading sales, scoping and delivering professional services and advisory related to commercial excellence and revenue growth.

Business Sweden in Africa has a team of about 22 colleagues in our offices in Nairobi, Johannesburg and Casablanca. Together, we make up a successful, dedicated and dynamic team who all share the same ambition to generate maximum value for our clients, our local context and Sweden.

Africa is home to over 1,3 bn people today and has the youngest and fastest growing population of all continents. The rapid population growth, an overall increased political stability and leapfrogging technology development drive a growing middle class, rapid GDP growth and large-scale investments into infrastructure. Being a Project Manager with Business Sweden Africa reflects these megatrends.

You will see a wide range of projects and stakeholders across Business Sweden’s whole portfolio of governmental and private assignments. We are supporting large infrastructure projects across many countries on the continent, working with Swedish governmental agencies and Swedish flagship companies that offer their solutions. We also support Swedish companies with market entry and growth cases with advisory and hands-on support.

Business Sweden Africa is covering the whole continent out of three locations: Casablanca, Johannesburg and Nairobi. We work as one integrated team of about 22 consultants.

Skills & Requirements

What do we expect from you?

The variety of assignments and the high level of responsibility makes the work truly dynamic and challenging. You will be working with companies of all sizes, ranging from large multi-nationals to start-ups, and across all industries.

You will be part of a business development team, driving client dialogues, and insight-driven initiatives of new business opportunities. You will contribute to ensuring that we are seen as a trusted advisor, with a clear point of view relating to our clients’ most pressing challenges in the African markets.

As a Project Manager you have a key role in managing client relations. You will scope, lead and deliver projects that provide support to leading Swedish companies in their international business development and expansion – not only in Kenya and Africa, but also in other markets in EMEA and globally. You are expected to carry out client dialogues independently and in teams where you will conduct outreach, proposal development, and closure. You are also contributing to the continuous work to strengthen our offerings and ability to deliver on these by building strong teams and growing talent.

Who are we looking for?

To succeed in this role, we believe you have;

  • a higher academic degree, probably a Master of Science in Business, Administration and/or Engineering.
  • a background as a management consultant and about 5-10 years of relevant work experience, having reached a project manager level
  • a proven consulting toolbox and strong problem-solving ability across industries regardless of previous knowledge
  • Previous experience from working in an international business context or experience from working with Swedish/European Businesses is highly meriting
  • experience from managing client relations at CXO level
  • proven track record of managing projects and leading teams successfully
  • experience of successfully scoping client projects, and confidence in driving and supporting sales dialogues
  • a high level of proficiency in both written and spoken English is a requirement. Proficiency in Swedish/Portuguese/French or African Languages is meriting
  • international experience from doing business and working or studying abroad and experience from emerging markets is a strong merit
  • knowledge spike in a functional area or within an industry is valued
