As Senior Acquisition Manager, you will be an important contributor to SF Studios’ acquisitions and co-productions in the Nordic region and occasionally on our international acquisition slate. This is a key position in the Nordic film industry, which requires extensive experience in evaluating screenplays for film and TV series in development.
Responsibilities As our new Senior Acquisition Manager, you will:
Proactively search for new projects and assess incoming film projects and occasional TV series projects.
Work closely with SF Studios’ output partners/production companies and actively search for new collaborations.
Evaluate content and business potential for projects/collaborations.
Negotiate deal terms with producers/legal councils/negotiators for acquisitions of productions and co-productions in the Nordic market (including deal terms for new collaborations).
Together with the Head of Nordic Acquisitions coordinate investment decision process internally and externally for Nordic productions and co-productions.
Be a value-adding partner for producers when it comes to the development phase; reading screenplays, give opinion on talent attached to the project and look at rough cuts and feedback on these parts of the development.
Contribute to content acquisition decisions for our international slate
The position involves business travel between the Nordic countries on a weekly basis.
The Senior Acquisition Manager is part of our Acquisition team and reports to SF Studios EVP Acquisition & Licensing, with day-to-day coordination with the Head of Nordic Acquisition. The work location is flexible between SF Studios’ offices in Stockholm, Copenhagen, Oslo, or Helsinki.
Requirements To be successful in this role, we believe you have:
Previous experience and deep understanding of evaluating films and TV series from the content perspective.
Excellent understanding of commercial drivers to ensure sound decision-making and deal terms.
Experience from working with film financing and different deal structures.
Familiarity with the Nordic film institutes’ support systems.
Relevant education within the Arts area, or similar.
Passion for/understanding of/ability to balance both the creative and the commercial side of the acquisition process.
Fluent in English and at least one of the Scandinavian languages (Swedish/Norwegian/Danish). Great reading proficiency in all Scandinavian languages, Finnish language skills is a bonus but not a demand.
Strong and wide network in the Nordic film industry.
Experience from working in several Nordic countries is considered a merit.
