Video and streaming have become a huge part of our everyday lives – overall, but also for news. To meet the growing user expectations and demand, VG is putting together a talented team of sharp minds to take our streaming experience to the next level.

As the Lead Product Designer for our work with video, you will play a crucial role in every aspect of our product development process. From brainstorming the next great product innovation to tweaking pixels right before launch. Utilizing the full range of your creative, collaborative, interactive, and visual design skills, you will own the experience for our key video products in Schibsted, VGTV and Aftonbladet TV.

The team
Our video team is responsible for bringing content out to a large Scandinavian audience and continuously raising the bar on the experience for how our millions of daily users consume and experience our video content across devices.

Our main products include VGTV and Aftonbladet TV, which both have ambitious growth targets for the upcoming years focusing on live sports, original content, and documentaries. Both the product designer and our product manager for video are teamed up with our product and tech team in VG.

As the lead product designer, you will:

  • Be the main designer for a video service that is used by millions on a daily basis
  • Master many traits, from product strategy, user insight, data analysis, concept work, and detailed UI designs
  • Set clear goals, contributing to and adhering to the product roadmap
  • Translate and document design ideas that can be shared with your team members as well as other parts of the business
  • Collaborate across countries, locations, brands and cultures
  • Be a part of a lean and talented team, but also a part of the UX and design family in VG and Schibsted Media, with 50+ designers and researchers.
  • You will support the team throughout the full lifecycle of product development - enabling us to create solutions that delight and excite our users while fulfilling their needs. As a designer in Schibsted, you will be part of an amazing, skilled, and supportive design family of 50+ diverse designers that work across a broad spectrum of products and services.

About you

  • Have a passion for digital products, technology, and an openness to radical change
  • Are comfortable working with UX on a conceptual level as well as digging into the details of pixel perfection
  • Are able to reflect on design ideals vs. pragmatic product development.
  • Strive to understand needs and perspectives from multiple angles - design, engineering & product
  • Listen - reflect - communicate - act & evaluate
  • Maintain a holistic approach to user experience
  • Have 5+ years of experience within the field of design and UX
  • Have excellent communication skills and are strong in facilitating.
  • Have worked closely with product managers and stakeholders before and have an understanding of how to balance business needs with solving actual problems users might have.
