Mentimeter is one of the fastest growing startups in Sweden. Our vision is to transform presentations and meetings into fun and interactive experiences by making it easy to listen and to be heard. We are building a modern and diverse fast-growing profitable product-first tech company and are based in Stockholm. Mentimeter serves over 200 million users with 15 services that we deploy roughly 40 times a week. Some days we are receiving more than 150 votes per second which means we have some interesting challenges making sure we can scale to our ever-growing customer base while still delivering a fast and smooth experience.

Our core backend is currently built in Ruby and NodeJS while our frontend leans heavily on React and Typescript. We’re hosting on Heroku and AWS using Cypress.io, Concourse, GitHub Actions, and other tools for Continuous Integration. We work in small, independent, cross-functional and self-organizing teams. The team’s product manager and the team work together to organize and plan the team’s backlog using a Kanban/Scrum-mixed process, with a focus on continuously delivering value to our users. We are looking for talented frontend engineers to join our Product department. We offer a friendly but fast-paced environment where you will be challenged with technically difficult tasks and be given a lot of responsibility from day one.

What you'll do

As a Frontend Engineer at Mentimeter you will be an integral part of a cross-functional team implementing designs and user experiences that will affect millions of people all over the world. Depending on your skill set and personality, we will match you with the team that is the best fit for you (and vice versa). You should be curious about how to build fast, intuitive and well performing user interfaces with modern technologies in a team together with designers and developers.

You will try to strike a good balance between discovery and implementation work, between new customer facing features and managing tech debt and technical initiatives. We are in an exciting phase where the platform must evolve in order to ensure continued scalability of the product and an edge compared to our competitors. We are, for example, currently rolling out our own design system to all of our products, growing our test suite and maintaining our shared code in a monolithic repository.

Skills & Requirements

We believe you have a few years of experience as a developer and through your experience have gained a good understanding of frontend development for the web. With where we are right now, we believe you'd ideally have some React experience, but would also welcome your application if you have a lot of experience working with other frontend frameworks that could add value.

In addition to being a good cultural fit (please see our core values below), we hope that you bring your passion for software development, scalable architecture and building great products. For us, is it important that everyone cares about code quality so an interest in both testing and automation will be something we will be looking for. Experience with writing test-driven frontend code is something we would appreciate but have no exact requirements for which framework you are used to.

Excellent communication skills and being able to work both independently and in teams are some other traits we are looking for with all of our colleagues.

Last but not least: Having a curious mindset, being open to learning & sharing knowledge and of course, that you are interested in working with our tech stack!
