Join our regional Americas team based in New York and contribute to the growth of Swedish companies in Americas and support American companies investments and expansions in Sweden. Work with companies of all sizes, ranging from large multi-nationals to start-ups, and across all industries.

Business Sweden has a team of about 60 colleagues in the region (U.S., Canada, Colombia, Chile, Mexico and Brazil). Together, we make up a successful, progressive and dynamic market unit that is planning to grow rapidly over the next few years.

What do we expect from you?

This is a new role in the leadership team of our Americas region, with intent to elevate and expand programs in the area of Government Affairs, business promotion and inward investments.

While North America is the primary, initial focus of this leadership role, it will be important to also provide GA support to our teams in Latin America. You will be reporting to the VP and Head of the Americas Region.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead key business promotion program in the U.S. - the Swedish-American Green Transition Alliance
  • Proactively develop strategic relationships with key investors and various stakeholders in the U.S., e.g. with Economic Development Boards
  • Support origination of HPO (High Potential Opportunities) and Investment opportunities and support Subject Matter Experts in the pursuit
  • Coordinate and help orchestrate collaboration with Team Sweden sister organizations in the Americas region and in Sweden
  • Provide executive support to business delegations in Americas region, both incoming and outgoing
  • Develop/evolve strategic collaboration in North America with key partners - both Swedish such as Vinnova and Swedish Energy Agency and American
  • Assure quality and consolidate tracking of impact in Americas business promotion activities, from HPO mega deal initiatives to specific programs supporting SME internationalization

Skills & Requirements

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a senior leader with extensive experience from Government Affairs and business promotion, preferably with on-the-ground experience from both North- & Latin America. As a leader, we are looking for someone with the experience and interest of both leading strategic initiatives and to be a senior external representative of Business Sweden. At the same a "doer attitude" will be a key success factor, since the everyday work will include a lot of operational project management.

Formal requirements

  • Fluent in English and Spanish. Meriting with Swedish and Portuguese
  • Lives in or have extensive background in North- and/or Latin America
  • Knowledge of Swedish government operations, organizations and working models
  • Familiar with Team Sweden collaboration
  • New York as home office, with interest and readiness to travel in the Americas regions and occasionally to Sweden
