Basware is looking for a driven Senior Business Development Representative (BDR) to identify business opportunities by developing new prospects to increase interest and qualify leads for the North American Sales team. They will have a keen understanding of Basware’s product offerings, and the ability to communicate our value to contacts in different functions within multiple industries.


The Business Development Representative will report to the US Head of Field Marketing and work with the local team. You will work day-to-day and take direction on projects and workload from your manager, but also be expected to manage and prioritize your own schedule based on plans that align with business needs.


Handover qualified leads to the Account Executive team at an appropriate maturity status, initiating calls and face-to-face appointments with Account Executives

  • Prospect and build a sales pipeline for the Account Executive team by engaging with marketing qualified leads via phone, social, and email communications across an assigned territory
  • Qualify leads based on business fit, problem(s) to be solved, the relevance of contact, etc.
  • Helping prospects to identify and sharpen their needs and mapping those needs with Basware Solutions
  • Developing relationships with prospect and expanding our reach and understanding their critical issues, business initiatives, stakeholders of the buying center, and their buyers' journey status
  • Drive leads through the early stages of the sales process by regularly communicating with prospects and sending appropriate content
  • Follow up with each Account Executive to discuss the result of respective meetings, and follow up appropriately to close the loop
  • Consistently log and record each prospect outreach in Hubspot and be able to report back on progress and outcomes
  • Act as a bridge between Marketing and Sales.
  • Be cognizant of each marketing and sales goals, and work toward corporate objectives
  • Working with marketing (ABM, verticals, events, digital marketing, etc.)

Skills & Requirements


  • Experience in a front line B2B telephone sales role, preferably with a SaaS background including lead nurturing, appointment setting and pipeline development All candidates who may not have this experience but can demonstrate the skills to the level required may apply and will be considered
  • Understanding of the buyer’s journey and the principles of value-based solution selling
  • Ability to comprehend the Basware product line and to communicate our value proposition to prospects
  • Must interact effectively with all levels of management and staff, internally and externally
  • Must be adaptable, professional, courteous and motivated, and must work well individually or as a member of a team
  • Excellent English speaker
  • Strong data management and research skills required
  • Excellent presentation skills, verbal and written communication skills, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in Hubspot or a similar tool preferred
  • Highly organized and attentive to detail
  • Self-starting with solid follow-through and multi-tasking capabilities
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced environment and challenging workload
  • Highly motivated with a strong desire to succeed
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • At least 2 years of experience in a similar role, with sales track record
