Northvolt has an exciting job offer for a Mechanical Engineer - Continuous Improvement to join our passionate Quality team in Västerås.

Building the greenest cell on the planet requires cracking some of the hardest nuts among the various obstacles in battery manufacturing.

This is where the recently created the Continuous Improvement Team in Västerås is driving exceptional troubleshooting and sustainable problem-solving projects. Covering any process step or product issue across the different sites, we rely on exceptional teamwork of a variety of different personalities, skillsets, and experience. Flexibility on working hours and project-based relocation to different sites inside NV are mandatory requirements.

With this opportunity, we are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to reinforce the team.

In this role, you will be part of cross-functional project teams driving the technical investigation and optimization - hands on. Your background in automated high-volume manufacturing provides insights for state-of-the-art solutions, whereas adapting your extensive technical knowledge and understanding to new challenges is one of your core abilities. Undiscovered territory is your field of dreams.

Great communication and collaboration skills allow you to build the sufficient network you need inside our diverse NV team to deep dive into your next challenging project.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Technical lead in improvement projects
  • Data-driven in depth technical analysis on subjects of interest
  • Create drawings and models
  • Run simulations
  • Participate in FMEA
  • Design, implement and validate technical solutions
  • Lead / participate in design reviews

Skills & Requirements


  • BSc or MSc degree in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant fields such as Mechatronics / Design / Industrialization is a must
  • More than 3 years of experience in automated high- volume production is a must
  • Proven background in hands-on/problem-solving and improvement projects
  • Advanced CAD skills like Siemens NX for 2D & 3D Modelling
  • Experience in mechanical drawing standards
  • Basic experience in quality management and tools preferred
  • Excellent English written and oral skills, Swedish is a plus
