We partner with Africa's fastest-growing startups to co-design an experience that enables fellows to quickly gain relevant skills and in-market knowledge, complete real project work and get fast-tracked to apply for a full-time role in their field.

HOW IT WORKS
Get Matched: Apply and get matched with a VFA startup partner in your area of interest.
Get Immersed: Spend 3 months in this role, during which you will be immersed in the local context, receive training from expert mentors, and get to understand market nuances.
Get Working: Work on real project deliverables for your assigned startups while being paid a stipend. Final projects will be presented to the startup team, and you will receive feedback.
Get Hired: While full-time roles are not guaranteed, you are fast-tracked through ordinary application processes for available full-time roles with the startup post the fellowship
Startup Partner: Diool
Diool helps small merchants in Africa accept payments from customers and pay back suppliers, using tech, data and financial products. The company is shaping the digital platform to facilitate payments processes for all types of merchants by combining mobile distribution and transactions between businesses.
Diool was founded in 2015 and started out as an app that sold prepaid recharges to customers. By 2018, it completed its evolution by pivoting into a financial services aggregator that provides several payment methods for small merchants to accept payments or repay suppliers.
It focuses on small merchants, distributors, digital and physical products providers, starting in Cameroon, with a vision to expand into Central and West Africa, and then the world!
You should possess excellent communication skills, negotiation skills, and be able to design and implement strategic plans that have the capacity to expand a company’s customer base.
As a Growth fellow, you will ultimately be responsible for initiatives that can drive sustainable financial growth through a focus on customer acquisition, lead generation, and prospect management.
Collaborating with management on sales goals, planning, and forecasting; maintaining short- and long-term business development and sales plans.
Monitoring and reporting on sales performance analytics
Identifying, qualifying, and securing business opportunities; coordinating business generation activities; developing customized targeted sales strategies
Maintaining a pipeline of all sales administration:
Driving the top of the funnel by conducting initial outreach (all channels);
Qualifying prospective customers and converting leads into active users;
Managing and executing each step of the client journey through the sales funnel;
Interact/coordinate with Marketing teams for optimised marketing campaigns and Ops teams for onboarding processes.
Reports to: CEO
Previous experience as a sales executive, sales and marketing manager or similar role
Proven sales executive experience, meeting or exceeding targets
Proven ability to drive the sales process from plan to close
Strong analytical skills to interpret and utilize sales data
Experience using CRM and BRM tools
Successful sales track record in B2B sales
People management skills and an ability to mentor and coach sales reps
A strong commitment to providing value-added services to demanding customers
Excellent communication and presentation skills
