Meltwater’s collaborative Security Team needs a passionate Security Engineer to continue to progress Meltwater’s security forward. Working with a group of fun loving people who are genuinely excited and passionate about security, there would be more laughs than facepalms. At Meltwater we have autonomous, empowered and highly efficient teams, and part of the Security Team’s responsibility is to ensure teams can continue to operate that way without compromising the security of our systems, services and data. Via enablement and collaboration directly with teams, Security Engineers ensure that our development and infrastructure practices have security defined, integrated and implemented in a common-sense manner that reduces risk for our business. Security Engineers define best practices, build tools, implement security checks and controls together with the broader Engineering and IT teams to ensure that our employees and our customers' data stays safe.
In this role, you will help shape Meltwater’s overall security posture.
You will also work with nearly every part of Meltwater’s organization, to ensure their understanding and practices align with Meltwater’s security policies.
In addition to helping build, configure, and select tools, review security practices, and help teams identify and visualize risk, you will:
Collaborate and work with teams to help identify security improvements and influence change quickly in both software and infrastructure.
Help review alerts, investigate security events and determine the appropriate actions to protect our environments
Keeping on top of new techniques and technologies, and help communicate those to the rest of the organization
Configure and operate various security tools, write best practices and enable teams to use such tools themselves in their Software Development Life Cycle
Work with our cloud providers and data centers to identify and implement security best practices that have impact on many teams
Identify and articulate security findings and business risk to our diverse audience
Roll up your sleeves to build, code, tape, staple, glue, or otherwise construct controls to Get Shit Done
Perform network and application vulnerability scans, and communicate findings to teams
Occasionally perform penetration tests and communicate findings to teams
Provide guidance towards Meltwater’s overall security posture

Self motivated with the ability to independently make decisions and solve problems
Knowledge of industry accepted security best practices/standards/policies such as NIST, OWASP, CIS, MITRE&[email protected]
Experience in at least one public cloud provider, preferably AWS
Software engineering/scripting or penetration testing background is preferred
Threat modeling experience is preferred.
Strong technical troubleshooting skills
