We partner with Africa's fastest-growing startups to co-design an experience that enables fellows to quickly gain relevant skills and in-market knowledge, complete real project work and get fast-tracked to apply for a full-time role in their field.

HOW IT WORKS
Get Matched: Apply and get matched with a VFA startup partner in your area of interest.
Get Immersed: Spend 3 months in this role, during which you will be immersed in the local context, receive training from expert mentors, and get to understand market nuances.
Get Working: Work on real project deliverables for your assigned startups while being paid a stipend. Final projects will be presented to the startup team, and you will receive feedback.
Get Hired: While full-time roles are not guaranteed, you are fast-tracked through ordinary application processes for available full-time roles with the startup post the fellowship
Startup Partner: Lami
Lami is an insurance SaaS platform and API looking to democratise access to insurance in developing countries. Their customers range from insurance companies to banks, and digital platforms.
Lami is a pioneer in the digital insurance space, on a mission to break the 3% insurance penetration barrier in Africa and provide a safety net for every person in the continent. Their headquarters are in Nairobi, Kenya.
Lami is looking for a brand and communications expert who possesses a strong arsenal of techniques and methods to promote Lami’s products, services and public image.
As a Brand and Communications lead, you will be responsible for product planning and execution throughout the product life cycle. You will be responsible for maintaining a consistent brand presence in various mediums and developing and executing b2b marketing campaigns.
Moreover, you will also be responsible for increasing brand awareness, improving brand reputation and generating quality leads. You will be working closely with sales teams and business teams.
Developing and executing marketing campaigns
Writing and publishing press releases and disseminating them through media outlets
Developing an editorial plan and creating content for social media and blog
Maintaining regular media coverage on Lami
Managing social media interactions
Organising for Lami to participate in events
Reports to: Head of Strategy
Minimum of 3 years experience in marketing and communications
Experience in B2B marketing
Well networked with media and journalists
Good writing and design skills
Experience running digital advertising across social media channels
Excellent teamwork skills
