We are looking for a great Discipline Lead Engineer for the Mechanical and HVAC area for our innovative battery manufacturing facility! You will have the opportunity to make a real impact on history by being an important contributor to this team.

Job

What will be your job? You will be responsible for leading the HVAC design for their designated area of the Northvolt facility program.

Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to

  • Review and clarify the relevant heating, cooling, ventilation, and other utility requirements for the different end users for their designated area, and where necessary translate them into a set of functional requirements to be used as a basis of design
  • Lead the design for their designated areas. Monitor and report design progress against the agreed scope and schedule
  • Drive and support the design contractors and other consultants in the development of their solutions
  • Resolve technical queries
  • Continually assure the quality of the design. Review of design documentation is a small part of this
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to facilitate a fully integrated, optimised design that meets all functional requirements
  • Act as technical authority for system design of cooling water, chilled water, and hot water systems
  • Support the design manager in the change management process
  • Represent Northvolt at design reviews and acceptance tests
  • Provide technical support to the construction and commissioning teams
  • Work with the Maintenance and Operations Teams to achieve a successful handover of the design documentation and flawless start-up

Skills & Requirements

Education/Experience

  • Minimum of 5-10 years experience in HVAC system design in both industrial and non-industrial settings
  • Minimum 3-5 years relevant experience working in projects integrating both indoor and outdoor industrial processes
  • Previous experience working as an HVAC engineer in all project phases from feasibility to construction and commissioning
  • Experience with underground services is desirable
  • Experience in supporting other project functions with input, including estimating, scheduling, HSE risk assessments, and constructability reviews
  • Previous experience with large scale projects is strongly desirable but not essential
  • Familiarity with Swedish and European laws and standards is strongly desirable but not essential
  • Fluent in either English or Swedish. Fluency in both languages is preferred as the role will require clear communication with both English and Swedish speakers

Specific Skills/Abilities

  • Strong experience with using BIM in design
  • Familiarity with 3D and 2D design tools such as MAGICAD, Revit and AUTOCAD
