Business Analyst Life Science

As a Business Analyst in the Life Sciences/Healthcare industry, you will play a vital role in bridging the gap between business needs and technology solutions. You will closely interact with diverse and both internal and external stakeholders including IT teams, Business, Functions and Healthcare professionals. Your primary responsibility will be to understand and analyse the organization's business, processes, workflows, needs and translate them into quality requirements and other artifacts.

Key Responsibilities:

Requirements Elicitation, Analysis and Documentation:

  • Follow elicitation techniques such as conduct interviews, workshops to understand and confirm end-user needs.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to analyse and document business requirements in the form of specifications, use cases, user stories, mock-ups.

Process Analysis and Mapping:

  • Analyse existing healthcare processes and workflows to identify opportunities for optimization and automation.
  • Create process maps, flowcharts, and business process models to visualize current and future states.

Solution Design:

  • Work closely with IT teams and vendors to design technology solutions that align with business requirements.
  • Evaluate and recommend software applications, systems, tools or processes that address specific healthcare challenges.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Possess basic knowledge to analyse data and derive meaningful insights to - solve a problem, find root cause, implement improvements.
  • Develop and maintain reports and dashboards to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and support data-driven decision-making.

Regulatory & Compliance:

  • Stay abreast with healthcare regulations, industry standards, and best practices (e.g., HIPAA, HL7, CFR Part 11, SOX, HIPAA, CSV, GxP, GDPR) to ensure that technology solutions comply with relevant guidelines.

Change Management and User Training:

  • Assist in change management efforts by preparing training materials, conducting user training sessions, and supporting end-users during technology adoption.

Project Management Support:

  • Collaborate with project managers to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks, and help resolve issues to ensure successful project completion.

Quality Assurance and Testing:

  • Support testing efforts by defining test protocols, test cases, conducting user acceptance testing (UAT), and validating that solutions meet business requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, BioChemical, BioMedical, BioInformatics,...
  • Proven experience as a Business Analyst in the healthcare industry. I
  • Strong understanding of healthcare processes, clinical workflows, and terminology.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance requirements (e.g. HIPAA, Meaningful Use).
  • Familiarity with healthcare IT systems, EHRs, and other healthcare applications such as LIMS, CTMS, ERP, CRM, Supply Chain Management systems.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Certification in Business Analysis (IREB, CCBA, CBAP)

Hard Skills:

  • Able to use Business Analysis techniques and tools in analysis.
  • Familiar with Agile and Waterfall methodologies
  • Experience with BPMN, UML is an add-on
  • Experience (set-up & use) with tools like Confluence & JIRA
  • Experience (use) with tools like, Visio & Tableau
  • Experience with creating wireframes, mock-ups
  • Experience in writing Epics, Features, User Stories or Use Cases

Soft skills:

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Communicate proactively. Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders. Engage with people from different functions.
  • Multi-tasking skills. Ability to work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously

Nice to have:

  • PhD or equivalent degree in BioChemical, BioMedical, BioInformatics or related field.
  • Knowledge/Experience in ERP (Eg: SAP), CRM (Eg: Salesforce), SQL, Analytics, Web & Mobile applications, Hospital integrations(HL7)
  • Certifications: Scrum Product Owner, SAFe, ITIL

Language and Location:

  • Resident in Belgium or open to relocate
  • Fluent oral and written communication skills in English and at least understand and speak French and/or Dutch
  • Willing to travel occasionally
