Northvolt is now looking for Validation Engineers in the Mechanical R&D group to be part of our growing team. This is your chance to contribute to the development of the world's greenest and most sustainable Li-ion battery cell.

With your exhaustive experience in mechanical testing, you will play an integral role in the validation and qualification of our safe, long-lasting, high-performance battery cells. This includes taking the responsibility for project deliveries and report to both internal and external stakeholders. You will work with a broad perspective from high-level prerequisites and concept development in the early phases to the later project phases managing planning, development and delivery. You will support setting up test facilities and machines. Developing verification and validation methods will be part of your work.

What you will do:

  • Plan, organize, direct and follow up on customer project-related activities to ensure delivery of project deadlines

  • Perform tests and develop innovative test methods together with the team

  • Analyze and present test results to internal and external stakeholders

  • Support set up of test facilities

  • You will work closely with other teams such as design and simulation to develop our product and establish innovative designs in the battery environment

  • Facilitate communication and clarification of technical requirements between customers and Northvolt's internal stakeholders

  • Collaborate with a team of talented engineers in agile environment

Skills & Requirements

Education/Experience

  • BSc/MSc or PhD degree within Material, Mechanical or other relevant engineering field is a must
  • At least two years of experience with mechanical testing and/or validation/verification is a must
  • Experience in welding failure modes analysis and weld characterization, including evaluation of mechanical properties, microstructure, and performance is a big plus
  • Experience in component level testing, especially in early development stages in an industry environment is a plus
  • Experience in material level characterization (e.g. metals, polymers) is a plus
  • Experience with accelerated life & reliability methods for mechanical parts is a plus
  • Experience within development, production and/or testing of batteries is a plus

  • Excellent English in written and oral skills is a must

  • Ability to work under high pressure with tight deadlines

  • Strong organization skills and used to manage a range of activities simultaneously

  • Experience from start-up environment is a plus

  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment, as well as independent

  • German, Chinese, Korean or would be a plus
