IOS SDK Engineer - Data Foundations

  • Oslo
  • Oslo

One of the core beliefs in Schibsted is that we can create better, more engaging and more user friendly news and products by collectively leveraging the data we already have from our product portfolio. One of our roles is to provide engineers in Schibsted with an awesome developer experience, as part of our centrally developed in-house suite of Web analytics, data quality, data sharing and data collection tools within Schibsted. Our platform ingests 1 TB of data daily from all of Schibsted’s Web and native applications, and is used for various purposes within Schibsted including analytics, personalisation, segmentation and advertisement.

We are looking for a iOS software engineer to join our SDK team, working together with engineers working with our SDKs across Android and JavaScript as well as iOS. You will collaborate in the team and with our users to form a coherent experience across all platforms, and be responsible for the user experience of our client engineers.

Who you are?

We are looking for a passionate iOS developer to be responsible for our iOS SDKs and iOS integrations. You should be proficient with Swift and Objective-C on iOS and be well versed in the iOS ecosystem. You should also care deeply about the users of your software. Our project strives to be forward leaning in terms of keeping up to date with modern tools and techniques, and you should not be afraid to experiment with new ways of applying technology.

Our work

The main driving factor behind the tasks we take on, are the needs of product managers and their products being developed within Schibsted. We cooperate with Schibsted brands such as Finn, Aftenposten, VG and Aftonbladet, in addition to other enabling teams such as the advertisement business. Pulse Tracking and its supporting infrastructure is there to make it easier for our various product-teams to leverage, use and access all data in Schibsted, no matter where in the organisation they live, subject to transparent rules for sharing this data and subject to Privacy, GDPR and other regulation.

What we expect:

  • In-depth knowledge of the iOS ecosystem and programming environments.

  • A solid background of fundamental computer science algorithms and patterns.

  • A good understanding of system design - being able to look at a problem and formulate a technically scalable solution to solve it.

  • Team mentality and willingness to share knowledge and ideas in a productive manner.

  • Fluency in English language, both written and spoken.

  • Interest in data in general, analytics and visualization.

Bonus points:

  • Experience working on, and contributing to, open-source projects.

  • Contributions to tech journals or blogs.

  • Having an interest in DX (Developer Experience) – how do we make better products by helping other developers?

Perks of the job:

  • 10% of work hours to be spent on personal development (typically every other Friday).

  • Active social committee organising a broad range of social activities.

  • Conference budget for both external and internal conferences.

  • 27 working days vacation (normally 25).

  • Good pension scheme.

  • Competitive salary.

  • Excellent equipment with a choice of laptop and mobile phone.

  • Central location of office in downtown Oslo, right beside the metro and five minutes walking distance from the central train station.

  • Buffet lunch served every day for heavily discounted price.

  • International work environment.

  • In-house gym (when the offices are open… )
