Northvolt has an exciting job offer for Discipline Lead - Civil Structural & Architectural to work in Gdansk/Poland. We are looking for self-driven, technically competent, and savvy CSA leads to join our in-house construction design and engineering team.

You will be working on the design for our greenfield project for a new battery system production facility in Poland.

As a Discipline Lead at Northvolt you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Cooperation with internal stakeholders to gather functional requirements for the facility.

  • Interface with external consultants to ensure these requirements are understood and form the basis of the discipline design.

  • Ensure that the design and engineering work for the discipline is progressing as scheduled (work done by Northvolt and contractor teams).

  • Assessment of design solutions in terms of costs and schedule.

  • Coordination regularly with other engineering disciplines to ensure design coherence.

  • Coordination of permitting process.

  • Supporting the project as needed during building permit review and approval phase. Design coordination and supervision.

  • Supporting the field execution teams during construction phases.

Your presence on site will be key to support in decisions and technical know how during execution phase of the project.

A part of your assignment will also be to interact with internal stakeholders such as process engineers where your work will be carried out in a highly international context.

The role reports to the Battery System Facility Design Manager in construction and will work closely with battery system industrialization team.

We believe you are experienced designing large scale industrial buildings and also been taking part in the execution phase. You have a master degree in structural or architectural engineering. You have a working knowledge of polish building law, permitting process and local technical regulations. Having a design and construction license would be an asset.

Full time employment, fixed salary.

Skills & Requirements


  • M.Sc. in the Civil, Structural, Architectural engineering fields
  • Have experience working in a CSA design function on technically complex projects
  • Have experience in the design of heavy industrial or manufacturing facilities
  • Be familiar with general building code legislation and requirements
  • Excellent communication skills as the role requires constant interaction with team members and external parties such as contractors, vendors, authorities and auditors.
  • Experience working on international projects and in multi-cultural environments
