We partner with Africa's fastest-growing startups to co-design an experience that enables fellows to quickly gain relevant skills and in-market knowledge, complete real project work and get fast-tracked to apply for a full-time role in their field.

HOW IT WORKS
Get Matched: Apply and get matched with a VFA startup partner in your area of interest.
Get Immersed: Spend 3 months in this role, during which you will be immersed in the local context, receive training from expert mentors, and get to understand market nuances.
Get Working: Work on real project deliverables for your assigned startups while being paid a stipend. Final projects will be presented to the startup team, and you will receive feedback.
Get Hired: While full-time roles are not guaranteed, you are fast-tracked through ordinary application processes for any available full-time roles with the startup post the fellowship.

Operational since 2008, AHL Venture Partners (www.ahlventurepartners.com) is one of East Africa’s premier impact investment firms, investing in early and growth-stage companies capable of delivering impact at scale alongside healthy financial returns. AHL’s primary investment themes are financial inclusion, food & agribusiness and energy access. AHL invests in equity, debt (senior and mezz), fixed income, and fund investments. To date, AHL has committed over $60mn across a portfolio of 35 companies and funds.
AHL Ventures is looking for a promising young professional looking to work in the world’s dynamic frontier markets and has a desire to pursue a career in Africa’s burgeoning impact investing and venture capital industry. You will help with deal sourcing, due diligence, and hands-on management of AHL’s portfolio of innovative, scalable businesses that are contributing to solving pressing social and environmental challenges across Africa.
You will build out tools to analyze the operating and financial strategy of portfolio companies and conduct a quantitative analysis of current operations while evaluating the return on investment of new opportunities.
This is a great opportunity for candidates with extensive experience analyzing business fundamentals and building out financial models to accurately project business performance.
Reports to: Portfolio Manager
Graduate students in the field of finance, business or economics (MBA, MSc, MPP, MA or equivalent) preferred.
Prior work experience in investment banking, private equity, financial advisory, management consulting, or entrepreneurship or related to our investment sectors preferred.
Ability to execute independently and autonomously. You thrive in an independent working environment, using your best judgment, high ethical standards, strong communication skills, passion and adeptness with start-ups/ SMEs to execute on deliverables.
You are an entrepreneur advocate. You bring a genuine curiosity about their business objectives and goals — and use this deeper understanding to align our efforts with their business’ needs.
Strong communication and writing skills as well as ability to work in a multicultural environment.
