Role Summary

The Senior Marketing Manager, DACH, will be responsible for integrated marketing planning and execution at country level in partnership with global marketing, sales, and business development teams. Reporting directly to the VP of global field marketing, you’ll be responsible for developing, launching, and managing marketing programs and campaigns that increase visibility and drive demand for Basware solutions. In this role, you will have solid line management responsibility for the existing team.

You will own the local marketing strategy and be accountable for pipeline generation results. Tasks include the development, execution, and analysis of marketing plans and the respective milestone plan aligned to the volume of new marketing leads, the volume and value of new sales opportunities, and pipeline health.

Frequent alignment with local sales colleagues is necessary in order to review the marketing driven pipeline, identify possible gaps and create respective action plans. The successful individual will oversee the management of the local programs, website, PR, social media and event activities in support of the local business.

Whilst the priority is to support the DACH business, we are a dynamic and global marketing team, and as such, there is always an opportunity to work across multiple-regions on specific projects, that support the continual development of our marketing organization.

Key Responsibilities

Be the local country marketing manager and ensure that deadlines and objectives are being met. Deliver against the milestones of the local marketing plan, including:

  • Build and manage integrated projects, budget plan, resources, and report on status and results
  • Local development and execution of demand generation and awareness programs
  • Work with sales to drive pipeline growth and sales outcomes
  • Ensure availability of sales/marketing materials to support demand generation 
  • Work with and manage agency partners to deliver desired outcomes (e.g. telemarketing, copywriter)
  • Ensure high-quality leads reach sales teams by aligning all campaign activity and the qualification process with our ideal customer profile
  • Identify areas to generate up-sell / add-on opportunities from existing
    customers by working closely with account executives and the global
    customer marketing team
  • Identify areas where marketing can support conversion of opportunities in the pipeline (bid support etc.)
  • Work with global teams to ensure the effectiveness of inbound (organic, paid, social)
  • Monitor the local competitive landscape and identify opportunities to accelerate demand generation

Planning

  • Create and execute the DACH marketing strategy based on available delivery resources
  • Contribute to the overall DACH Go-To-Market Strategy as a member of the country management team
  • Fully integrate global programs and campaigns and adapt them for the local market with support from the global campaigns and demand generation teams
  • Manage the local program development budget with a tight focus on pipeline
    impact and in line with the financial year, quarter, and monthly
    allocations
  • Ensure that all expenditure is accounted for through agreed activities and
    constantly monitored for return on investment against forecast and
    within defined reporting periods

Program Management

  • Manage the end to end delivery of local and global programs including customer and partner engagement in coordination with your team
  • Program and campaign measurement and reporting
  • Implementation of corrective actions within the program where appropriate
  • Be the contact for marketing related questions regarding programs/campaigns for DACH
  • Participate actively in meetings and calls with the global marketing, sales, and business development teams
  • Drive local marketing programs/campaigns and inform the integrated team (global marketing, customer marketing, sales & business development) about the status of these on a frequent basis
  • Align and integrate with peers in other countries in order to keep them up-to-date with respect to marketing workstreams and to proactively share best practice

Skills & Requirements

Skills & Experience

  • Native German speaker with fluent business English
  • Strong, demonstrable B2B technology marketing experience, ideally in a B2B SaaS environment
  • Experience in managing a small team, combined with hands-on mentality
  • Solid understanding of pipeline management and experience of working with sales teams to drive sales outcomes
  • Good understanding and demonstrable track record of driving demand through integrated marketing programs
  • Understand the digital marketing ecosystem and advise / influence the planning and execution of this for local requirements
  • Able to work independently and have strong drive for results
  • Experienced working in a virtual and matrix environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to think strategically and analytically
  • Strong customer orientation
  • Preferably experience in on-demand and SaaS business
