Northvolt Zwei in Germany is looking for a Cloud Architect (m/f/d) that gets excited about the idea of building a smart factory using a cutting-edge technology stack.

This is a unique opportunity to be a part of a team that aims to build world class solutions - and you will be a part of it from the very start of our journey. We believe that the ideal candidate feels comfortable in solving problems by learning new technologies and learn from new people. And who gets excited about tackling challenges. You will be working with amazing people on problems that matter. Not, only for the bottom-line of the company but also for the future of this planet.

You will work on distributed systems using primarily AWS with large data throughput and strict up-time requirements. We have a cloud native approach, which means that the cloud architect is responsible for all interfaces between systems like Teamcenter PLM, Microsoft D365, IoT etc.

We win as a team - and fail as a team. Things go wrong, and we learn from them. Here you will never feel afraid of making mistakes. You will have the opportunity to take ownership of projects from the get-go and still feel that there is someone who has your back. When you don't know what to do, you can always reach out to your team.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Working together with the Enterprise Architect at Northvolt in Sweden to define a architecture that is scaling not only for Northvolt Ett in Sweden, but also for Northvolt Zwei in Germany. When questions or new requirements come up from our multidisciplinary team in Zwei, you discuss possible solutions and implement them by configuring AWS. More specifically, the process engineers, automation engineers and software developers will be people you will work with. Example topics are for example how to manage the interlocks for our factory machines or how to create and use of bill of processes. Working on this, you are more than likely to talk with people from various backgrounds and nationalities.

The person (m/f/d) we are looking for is goal oriented, curious and eager to learn. You will get the chance to have a real impact on our success story in Germany and see the results of your work. Our organization requires and values great self-discipline and a natural talent to make things happen.

Limited travel to various project sites in Sweden will be required for learning, requirements gathering, engineering support and delivery is required.

About the company

Northvolt was founded in 2016 with the mission to build the world’s greenest battery cell, with a minimal carbon footprint and the highest ambitions for recycling, to enable the European transition to renewable energy. Northvolt’s team of experts is building the next generation battery cell factory focused on process innovation, scale and vertical integration. Once completed, it will be Europe’s largest battery cell factory and produce 32 GWh worth of capacity annually.

We are currently in an exciting fast-growing phase and operate in a busy, fast moving environment, dealing with a wide range of stakeholders. We are staffing our international office in Stockholm, our R&D facility, Northvolt Labs, in Västerås, as well as our Gdansk facility for production of battery systems. We are also preparing for upcoming positions at the main factory, Northvolt Ett, in Skellefteå and Northvolt Zwei in Germany.

The Northvolt–Volkswagen Group joint venture is establishing a gigafactory in Salzgitter, Germany. Northvolt Zwei takes its design from the Northvolt blueprint for battery manufacturing developed for Northvolt Ett. Start of construction is planned for 2021 and start of operations beginning of 2024. Initial annual output will be at least 16 GWh.
