This is what you will do

As Area Manager for the central and Northern part of Spain you’ll be boosting the foodservice-channel by positioning our premium products and brands (cfr. Pastridor, Americana,…) to both existing clients and prospects. You will be managing a network of local wholesalers whilst also setting up commercial actions towards our end-customers – cfr. hotels and catering industry – and exploring opportunities in other channels.

Primary areas of responsibility:

  • Set-up, communicate and implement a commercial plan to realize new business in your region;
    • Developing ‘account plans’ per wholesaler and regarding the regional accounts
    • Monitoring and reporting of these ‘account plans’
    • Develop local action plans, in relation to the specific product opportunities for end-customers
  • Establishing & maintaining commercial relationships with a network of wholesalers and building long-term relationships with end-customers (cfr. push and pull-strategy);
    • Acting as a professional partner for the entire regional wholesaler’s network based on the ABC segmentation and our / their end-customers.
    • Coordinate and communicate potential complaints, being able to turn around potential complaints into sales opportunities.
    • Follow-up your ‘accounts receivable’ status: continuously and proactively questioning the customer’s solvability.
    • Yearly closing of wholesalers’ conditions & bonus calculations.
  • Applying a service-oriented sale-approach – thereby reflecting our high qualitative products and service;
    • Development of tailor-made sales support activities and promotional campaigns, taking regional actions and product launches into account.
    • Inspire clients in listing new products by using marketing tools and the Unibake Academy
    • Delivering technical bake-off support to end customers whenever needed
    • Attend relevant fairs/events for promoting products, supporting customers and reaching out to potential new businesses
  • Acting as a true Lantmännen Unibake ambassador
    • Report accurately and keep our CRM-system up-to-date (incl. planning and visits)
    • Proactively collecting and reporting relevant market information: e.g. customer relationships wholesaler / end customer, competition, interest groups, sectors related, etc. …
    • Follow the correct communication flow and reporting lines within the organization.

Skills & Requirements

You have:

  • You have a higher education-degree (most likely in an economical direction) or equivalent through experience;
  • You have at least 3 years of sales experience in
    • the FMCG-sector (food & beverage ideally) towards foodservice/horeca-business;
    • the online-business would be an absolute advantage;
    • familiarity with frozen distribution is considered as a plus;
  • A professional level of Spanish with a strong knowledge of English (both written as oral);
  • A professional knowledge of MS Office tools and affinity for new software systems.
  • A customer focused, target orientated individual with a positive mindset and desire to succeed – a hunter spirit prevails over farming skills.
  • A self-starter who is motivated, passionate, hardworking and organized.

  • As a commercial-oriented person you are driven by customer satisfaction and achieving (sales) targets, whilst you also display team spirit to fit into a close team;
  • You have a positive mindset, are analytical and pragmatic to come up with solutions and action plans that will anticipate (market) issues and/or will capitalize on opportunities on the long term;

  • Your excellent communication and persuasion skills enable you to influence effectively your clients and engage your internal stakeholders (i.e. colleagues from Marketing, Quality,…).
