General Summary

Bonnier Books UK has an exciting opening for a junior production controller to work across the various book publishing imprints on a wide list of colour and mono reprints and co-editions. We are looking for an organised and proactive individual who wants to build on their existing experience and who can deliver titles on schedule, within budget and to the required standards of quality. You will be happy to liaise directly with the creative teams for files and approvals and keen to build your relationships with global printers. You will assist the whole production team with admin tasks as needed and provide support as required to the production control team.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities

  • Responsible for controlling a list of backlist books, co-edition books and eBooks including scheduling, pre-press and quality control
  • Ensuring effective communication with both internal stakeholders, customers and external suppliers
  • Maintaining and updating biblio schedules, specifications and costs, ensuring accuracy of records
  • Raising purchase orders
  • Reconciling and approving invoices
  • Arranging freight as required from FE and EU printers. Supplying packing and shipping information, obtaining delivery details and managing direct deliveries
  • Supporting line manager and wider production team as required

Skills & Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

  • Previous experience of working in a production department as a production assistant or junior controller for a minimum of six months
  • Experience of working on colour books; additional mono experience would be ideal but not essential
  • Experience of managing print scheduling
  • Clear and effective communicator
  • Excellent time management
  • Attention to detail
  • Experience of working in a fast paced and high-pressure environment
  • Experience of establishing and maintaining excellent internal and external working relationships with suppliers and colleagues
  • Experience of working with Biblio would be ideal but not essential
  • Self-motivating, proactive and ability to prioritise effectively
