Northvolt has an exciting job offer for an Accounts Payable Manager to join our passionate team in Stockholm.

In joining us you will play an important part from the very start in building one of the first large-scale European battery factories. Northvolt will play an important role in the transformation to a carbon-free society.

We are seeking a highly motivated Accounts Payable Manager to be responsible for the overall leadership and development of the Accounts Payable function and ensuring that the full P2P cycle is executed timely and accurately.

The Accounts Payable Manager will be responsible for driving continuous process improvement, daily operations in the accounts payable function and supporting all elements of Northvolt’s expenditure across the Northvolt companies. You will proactively streamline processes, identify process gaps, and be responsible for ensuring that these are resolved quickly and effectively whilst ensuring that the team delivers against KPIs.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Day-to-day management, coaching and leadership of the accounts payable team and related functions to ensure exceptional service to internal customers, vendor relations, and minimise related financial risks for the company while closely managing the payable component of working capital.
  • Identify, onboard, mentor, coach and develop team members to create and maintain an engaged, productive, and experienced organization: performance measurement, skill assessment, training, training, and team building; align team goals and objectives to ensure Finance Team goals and SLA targets are met or exceeded.
  • Lead month-end close for P2P value stream: coordinate activities for AP, review of journal entries, AP Trade-related account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Assist in implementing and monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and operational metrics to ensure team objectives are met; ensure transparency and sharing with stakeholders.
  • Develop, implement and maintain systems, procedures, and policies; ensure policy and controls are enforced; make recommendations to improve, perform mitigating controls as required, and serve as the lead contact for AP area for internal and external audits.
  • Interact with management and other departments (in particular the procurement team) for query resolution, obtaining approvals, and invoice processing.
  • Oversee all payment transactions and ensure that all invoices are paid on time whilst ensuring that cash is allocated and to invoices following payment.
  • Ensuring that the Accounts Payable master data is accurate and complete. Drive ERP development within the AP function including automation and robotics to optimising processing capabilities.
  • Ensure that corporate policies are maintained within the accounts payable function.
  • Participate in ad hoc projects related to Accounts Payable as and when required.

Skills & Requirements


Qualifications/education/experience

  • A degree/MSc in Accounting/Finance is a must.

  • At least 3 years' experience in a management and/or supervisory role within accounting.

  • Experience of working with medium to large companies is preferred.

  • Experience of shared service centre is beneficial.

Specific skills (e.g. specific programmes, languages, certifications etc.)

  • High level of energy and enthusiasm to work in a fast-moving business.

  • Able to work both within a team and independently to drive issues to conclusion.

  • Experience with mid-tier ERP systems; Dynamics365 experience is preferred but not essential.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with strong knowledge of Excel.

  • Effective communication skills.

  • Highly accurate and detail-oriented.

  • Business language of Northvolt is English. Swedish is a plus.

About the company

Northvolt was founded in 2016 with the mission to build the world’s greenest battery cell, with a minimal carbon footprint and the highest ambitions for recycling, to enable the European transition to renewable energy. Northvolt’s team of experts is building the next generation battery cell factory focused on process innovation, scale and vertical integration. Once completed, it will be Europe’s largest battery cell factory and produce 32 GWh worth of capacity annually.
