Northvolt has an exciting job offer in Indirect Materials and Services Purchasing Team to join our passionate team in Stockholm. Northvolt Purchasing is a central procurement function serving all entities of Northvolt with strategic and operational aspects of the supply chain. Indirect Materials and Services Purchasing team is responsible for all strategic choices across Technology and Indirect spend for Northvolt. We are a diverse multinational team with strong focus on strategic sourcing and digital transformation of operational purchases. In joining us you will play an important part in building our plant in Västerås to the next level.

As the Category Manager for Consultancy and Professional Services you have an exciting opportunity to work with various services we procure across all entities. Services include but not limited to consulting, legal, financial, installation, commissioning, design etc. You will be part of the team that sits in Stockholm but travelling to our Västerås or Skellefteå sites as required. You will develop and maintain strategies and spend across the categories while working closely with the site purchasing specialists. You will get the chance to have a real impact on our success story in Sweden and see the immediate results of your work.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop, negotiate, and administer contracts for key suppliers; manage supplier base
  • Enforce terms and conditions of purchase orders and other agreements and compliance with legal requirements and Company policy
  • Resolve non conformance issues, back-charges and claims in a timely manner to minimize the company's exposure
  • Work with teams and purchasing specialists to ensure internal customer needs are met
  • Oversee performance management (cost, reliability, quality) of suppliers. Provide regular performance feedback to suppliers and drive corrective actions as required
  • Develop supplier spend reports to identify targeted improvements; leverages value for the company
  • Seeks opportunities to expand diverse supplier spend. Lead Continuous Improvement events with suppliers; improves total cost of ownership
  • Maintain knowledge of market and industry trends within area of expertise and communicate potential impact on business
  • Monitor changes affecting supply and demand; track market conditions, price trends, and futures markets
  • Monitor supplier market characteristics regularly; identifies opportunities resulting from market shifts and takes advantage of such shifts
  • Act as central point of expertise and knowledge for users in assigned spend categories.

Skills & Requirements

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree with preferred focus on Sourcing & Logistics, and/or equivalent work experience
  • 5 years of demonstrated category management experience within consultancy or professional services
  • Fluency English is required and Swedish is preferable
  • Experience identifying requirements and clearly documenting specifications
  • Experience and interest in the manufacturing industry is a plus
  • Team player, able to influence and convince other team members and project stakeholders

About the company

Northvolt was founded in 2016 with the mission to build the world’s greenest battery cell, with a minimal carbon footprint and the highest ambitions for recycling, to enable the European transition to renewable energy. Northvolt’s team of experts is building the next generation battery cell factory focused on process innovation, scale and vertical integration. Once completed, it will be Europe’s largest battery cell factory and produce 32 GWh worth of capacity annually.
