Northvolt has an exciting job offer in Equipment Purchasing Team to join our passionate team in Stockholm.

Our challenge
We are a team of 6 professionals with various background and nationalities.
We procure equipment for manufacturing of battery cells and we plan to significantly grow both as a Northvolt and as a team.
At the current stage we already procured mass production equipment for our pilot plant in Västerås and first phase of Giga factory ETT in Skellefteå and are about to initiate business awarding phase for second plant in Germany as well as further massive expansion of ETT. We plan to spend more than 3bn USD on the horizon of next 2 years.
We procure and deliver the heart and muscles of the production plant, challenges are what we live for.

Your challenge, if you join us
You will manage the equipment purchasing projects across all main NV programmes; Northvolt Ett (Skellefteå), Zwei (Salzgitter)
You will need to to build up and maintain complex business relationships with our current and future supply base and work together with our localisation team to develop the European supply base.
You are also responsible for scouting for new potential suppliers & technology together with our process team.
You will get the chance to have a real impact on our success story in Europe and clearly see the results of your daily work.

Responsibilities:
Will be responsible to scout and evaluate potential suppliers and technology, as well as to establish equipment category strategy per dedicated production process
Establish Should-Cost models for dedicated mass prodcution equipment, focus on target costing, identify cost improvement ideas with suppliers and involve in costs estimations
Perform business awards, validate offers and proposals, perform and finalise technical, commercial & contract negotiations

Skills & Requirements

Education/Experience

  • A degree in Engineering, MSc or MBA/Relevant University Degree
  • Working experience of 2-3 years in operational management consulting, or 3-4 years of purchasing experience, prefferably in automotive industry
  • Proven negotiation experience
  • Experience from difficult bi-lateral & multi-cultural business relationship is a clear plus
  • Advanced skills in cost structure analysis & and ability to create bottom-up shadow calculations is a clear plus
  • Very good team player, able to influence and convince other team members and project stakeholders

Specific Skills/Abilities

  • Excellent English written and oral skills, Swedish is a plus
  • Exceptionally good negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Can do attitude and an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment, as well as independently
  • Qualities that we cherish are flexibility, sense of quality, friendliness, motivation to take on new challenges, grit and a sense of humor
  • Willingness to travel for EU and oversea business trips. (up to 25% of time)
