Salary: £30,000 p.a. - £35,000 p.a. (pro-rated salary for 4 days per week)

General Summary

We are looking for an experienced senior editor to join the passionate Bonnier Books UK non-fiction team on a 12-month maternity cover contract.

This is an fantastic opportunity to become part of our fast-moving, friendly, and creative publishing team at John Blake – editing general commercial non-fiction including true crime and inspirational and celebrity memoir. Our bestselling books range from Peaky Blinders: The Real Story by Carl Chinn to the incredibly successful true crime series Talking with Serial Killers by Christopher Berry-Dee.

You will need to be confident in all aspects of editorial project management with a meticulous eye for detail, taking manuscripts from acquisition to publication and beyond, as well as working closely with authors, agents and other members of the editorial team.

You will be an excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing, have superb organisational skills and the ability to deal with people across multiple internal teams with confidence and clarity. You will have extensive editorial experience – ideally in non-fiction trade publishing.

Though you will have the opportunity to commission, your key responsibilities will be editing and publishing the books previously acquired by our editorial director as well as providing editorial support to the rest of the team.

Skills & Requirements

Skills and experience

  • At least four years of publishing experience in an editorial role

  • Organised, pro-active, and capable of managing competing deadlines

  • Experience and knowledge of Biblio is an advantage

  • Friendly and team-orientated
