Process Automation Engineer

We're on the lookout for an experienced Process Automation Engineer to join our growing Life Sciences division. You'll work in a cross-functional, multi-disciplinary team environment, providing technical support and helping the team to make informed decisions about hardware and architecture selection. The ideal candidate has a strong analytical mindset with the ability to understand, fault-find and modify automation software.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing machine design control systems, including servo motion and high-speed device integration
  • Developing, testing and installing PLC and control software as part of a highly automated, high volume 24/7 validated production environment
  • Developing functional and detailed design specifications from user requirement specifications
  • Developing high-quality PLC and HMI code from functional and detailed design specifications
  • Fault-finding on complex automation equipment
  • Maintaining comprehensive documentation of code to medical device standards
  • Developing machine control software involving servo pneumatic and data control
  • Developing debugging and validating control system software programs

Skills & Requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science a related field
  • 5-6 years of experience working with automated control systems as part of a machine design team
  • Strong PLC background in Allen Bradley ControlLogix 5000, APT, Siemens S7, Elau, Pilz Safety PLCs, Guardlogix Safety PLC’s and Wonderware Intouch/ArchestrA HMI software
  • Accustomed to working in a validated environment with strong discipline with regard to change control.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while working to tight schedules
  • Additional knowledge of Servo Motion Control, printer systems, vision systems, robotics, BCR, data analytics and RFID systems would be beneficial
