Northvolt Battery System has an exciting job possibility for an engineer specialized in the field of Energy Storage Systems.

You will be contributing in your area from the very start in building one of the first large scale European battery module factories, which will play an important role in the transformation to a carbon free society. You will be part of the team always developing new technologies to bring innovative solutions to the market.

In general, you have a long experience in Engineering and have been driving large, innovative and challenging product development projects with very high demand on accuracy and scale.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Define what safety-related activities that are necessary for the project, based on templates and established processes;
  • Monitor the progress of the safety-related activities and gather the results;
  • Write the safety evidence of the system;

  • As safety engineer in a project, you will work in cooperation with the rest of the project core team;

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the company’s safety processes.

Skills & Requirements

  • Degree in Mechatronics / Electronic/Computer / Systems Engineering, or similar, preferably a Master’s degree.

  • 2+ years’ experience in system safety design, especially for lithium-ion batteries or high voltage

  • Experience of working across the full engineering lifecycle.
  • Proven experience of work on safety critical embedded / mechatronic systems.
  • Experience from working on products for certification in European and North American markets, preferably focused on lithium-ion batteries
  • Experience in Safety engineering processes (Hazard and Operability Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis)

  • Experience in an engineering field preferably as safety engineer or system engineer;

  • Leadership and coordinating skills
  • Background from multi-cultural work environments is a plus.

Specific Skills/Abilities

  • Excellent English written and oral communication skills,

  • High knowledge in Technical writing

  • Highly organized and result-driven
  • Continuous learner in interdisciplinary environment
  • Knowledge of Functional Safety standards (IEC 61508, ISO 26262, EN 50218, IEC 62061) is an advantage
  • Ability to work under high pressure and tight deadlines, excellent time management

  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment, as well as independently

  • Ability to work in a high profile and often high-pressured international environment

About the company

Northvolt was founded in 2016 with the mission to build the world’s greenest battery cell, with a minimal carbon footprint and the highest ambitions for recycling, to enable the European transition to renewable energy. Northvolt’s team of experts is building the next generation battery cell factory focused on process innovation, scale and vertical integration. Once completed, it will be Europe’s largest battery cell factory and produce 32 GWh worth of capacity annually.
