Northvolt has an exciting job offer for a Fire Safety Coordinator to join our passionate team in Skellefteå.

In joining us you will play an important part from the very start in building one of the first large scale European battery factories. Northvolt will play an important role in the transformation to a carbon free society.

The Fire Safety Coordinator will serve as a key-resource in the implementation and maintenance of Northvolt's systematic fire protection work (SBA). You will be responsible for leading and organizing the company's internal industrial rescue services. You will also be responsible for carrying out fire safety checks in respect of technical fire protection in accordance with established plans.

In general you have a long experience in the field and have relevant training in technical and organizational fire protection and emergency preparedness.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Inspections of fire equipment and document these according to established plans
  • Conduct fire protection training and evacuation exercises according to established plans regarding both the internal industrial rescue service and other employees
  • Reporting and investigating fire safety related incidents, accidents, etc.
  • Compile reports on fire protection work to the management, authorities etc.
  • Perform or participate in risk assessments of working methods, equipment, or premises
  • Conduct fire-safety training for contractors and other external partners
  • Establish permits for flammable hot work and supervise that hot work is carried out in accordance with established procedures
  • If necessary, hold the role of superintendent of flammable goods.
  • Organize and lead the internal industrial rescue service so that there is always fire-safety competence on the site available
  • Organize fire drills with the local rescue service and internal industrial rescue services

Skills & Requirements

Education/Experience

  • Relevant training in technical and organizational fire protection and emergency preparedness
  • Relevant training regarding inspection and maintenance of fire protection equipment
  • Experience from inspection and control of fire protection equipment, such as fire extinguishers, fire alarms, smoke detectors, escape routes etc.
  • Experience of working as a firefighter or industrial rescue service
  • Experience of organizing and leading firefighter or industrial rescue service

Specific Skills/Abilities

  • Excellent knowledge about SBA (Systematic Fire Prevention Work)
  • Good knowledge about technical solutions and equipment within fire safety and security.
  • Good knowledge about best practices when it comes to emergency response.
  • The ability to communicate guidelines to a multidisciplinary, as well as multinational, workforce is essential.

Northvolt was founded in 2016 with the mission to build the world’s greenest battery cell, with a minimal carbon footprint and the highest ambitions for recycling, to enable the European transition to renewable energy. Northvolt’s team of experts is building the next generation battery cell factory focused on process innovation, scale and vertical integration. Once completed, it will be Europe’s largest battery cell factory and produce 32 GWh worth of capacity annually.
