Northvolt has exciting job offers for Manufacturing Equipment Engineers to join our bold Battery Systems team in Stockholm.

In joining us you will play an important part from the very start in developing a new generation of battery system and building a large scale European battery factory. We are continuously building a team of both experienced engineers and great leaders with engineering background.

The Manufacturing Equipment Engineers will be experts in one or several defined process areas which includes deep knowledge in battery systems prototype/production process and equipment design, automation equipment development, equipment integrator management, equipment validation, equipment installation, , prototype building and new product industrialization. You will play an important role to interface with equipment suppliers and to collaborate with Northvolt process and factory design teams to efficiently integrate the process, equipment, and factory.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Own functionality, stability, uptime of automated manufacturing equipment and lines
  • Identify, address, and solve equipment and process concerns
  • Drive development of automation work cells

  • Proof-of-Concept thru full-scale production

  • Equipment Owners and Automation/Controls Engineers

  • Architect, Concept, Develop, Test, and Implement

  • Responsible for production ramp, equipment reliability, efficiency, yield

  • Modification of existing equipment to allow for mass production

  • Design and specify automation equipment and processes
  • Own relationships with equipment integrators
  • Develop and build high-volume production equipment
  • Develop and review project planning documents such as project timelines, Requests for Quotations, FMEA’s and Safety Risk Assessments, PM schedules, requirements, and key equipment parameter

Skills & Requirements

Education/Experience

  • BSc or MSc degree in Mechanical / Manufacturing Engineering
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience within new equipment development
  • Proven successful leadership in a multicultural environment
  • Familiar with DOE and SPC
  • Familiar with DFMEA and QA troubleshooting tools
  • Successful track record of leading equipment develop projects in prototype and production factories
  • Experience with evolving products, processes, and equipment from prototype sclaes to production scales in a fast-growing environment ideally in the Food, Pharma, Paper & Pulp, Semiconductor, Electrochemical or similar industry
  • Curious, technically educated
  • Experience and interest in manufacturing industry is a plus
