Northvolt has an exciting job offer for a debt finance manager to join our stellar/bold/passionate team in Stockholm.

In joining us, you will play an important part in building the largest European battery manufacturing company. Northvolt has the mission to enable the transition to a decarbonised society in Europe by having a minimal carbon footprint, establishing a fully circular business model, and having the highest ambitions for recycling. The debt finance manager will be in charge of solidifying and executing on the debt strategy to accompany Northvolt's business endeavours. Northvolt has transitioned swiftly from a start-up to a well-financed corporate by having been able to attract strong financial and strategic equity investors. The next phase of growth will require a variety of debt solutions for each business unit to be able to set the company up to capture 25% of European market share. The debt finance manager will therefore play a critical role in structuring and executing on all the debt processes together with the rest of the corporate finance team, management team, and external advisors.

We are looking for candidates that have extensive experience leading execution of debt financing processes and have been driving large, innovative and challenging projects with high demands on building bankability internally.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for setting and executing on the debt financing strategy for Northvolt's business units, with a focus on optimizing the financing structures and cost of capital
  • Build attractive debt investment stories to build investor interest and correspondingly prepare investor marketing materials
  • Drive operational teams to set up the right contracting structures and other critical bankability aspects to attract the right debt financing
  • Engage in optimising the debt financial models together with external advisors and the rest of the corporate finance team
  • Drive negotiations from term sheet to final long documentation of financing agreements as well as complete the CP processes for each milestone
  • Work with advisors to optimize fundraising processes from preparation to execution
  • Further position Northvolt sustainable business model towards the lending community and leverage / create new green financing products
  • Ensure the debt structures are complimented with the treasury operations including hedging arrangements, cash flow management and overall financial risk

Skills & Requirements

Education/Experience

  • A degree in Finance, MSc or MBA (ideally within finance)
  • 5-10+ years working experience in debt finance industry from investment banking, debt investment firms or relevant industrial corporation
  • Experience from execution of more complex financing structures and large projects
  • Curious, technically educated and with a strong business background
  • Experience from multi-cultural environment is a strong plus as well as experience and interest in manufacturing industry

  • Excellent English written and oral skills
  • Highly organized and result-driven
  • An eye for detail
  • Excellent skills within the debt financing toolbox including financial models, contractual structures, legal documentation and how to run a project from planning through execution
  • Deep understanding of project finance and working with ECAs as well as junior debt and intercreditor topics
  • Excellent project management skills driving detailed timelines and project deliverables while understanding the big picture. Important to be able to work with several stakeholders internally and externally
  • Proactive and goes beyond expectations
