Northvolt has an exciting job offer for a Product Development Quality Manager to join our business unit - Battery Systems passionate team in Stockholm.

In joining us you will play an important part from the very start in building one of the first large scale European battery factories. Northvolt will play an important role in the transformation to a carbon free society.

In general you have a long experience in the field and have a good familiarity regarding different manufacturing methods.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Subject matter Expert (SME) on NPD process
  • Manages all aspects of quality and continuous improvement across several new product developments and various customer groups
  • Full APQP process leader and ownership for customer launches
  • Fulfill our customers’ Quality System requirements e.g. Advanced Product
  • Quality Planning (APQP) and manage the relationship with our customers
  • Quality representatives
  • Demonstrate full ownership of product quality by driving all relevant functions towards robustness in meeting specifications/performance requirements
  • Facilitate Risk Management process in compliance to appropriate external standards and corporate policies
  • Provide technical support to NPD teams in generating risk files for new products
  • Develop customer satisfaction plans
  • Turn "voice of the customer" into user needs and quality goals for new products
  • Develop test methods/procedures to support product validation efforts
  • Coordinate activities associated with "Design for Six Sigma (DFSS)", ensuring that fabricated items are traceable to documented standards at release of product to production
  • Evaluates risk of new products i.e. creating inspection criteria and performance validation
  • Document issues and ensure lessons learned are captured/shared amongst the teams
  • Work with production sites & industrialization team to prepare for launch requirements
  • Gain cooperation of colleagues, conduct presentations of technical information with specifics on projects/schedules and timelines
  • Responsibilities include understanding customer requirements and expectations, and developing/driving actions and schedules to support their delivery
  • Awareness of Design to Cost and Design for Manufacturability & Assembly principles
  • Make line audit - may travel and provide oversight at manufacturing sites in preparation for product launch (ensure that APQP docs is consistent with manufacturing methods employed at production line, their controls, process layout etc.)

Skills & Requirements


  • Bachelors / Masters degree in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Industrial Engineering or similar with typically 5+ years professional experience
  • Familiarity with manufacturing methods – welding, soldering, adhesive bonding, machining, stamping, injection-moulding or forming
  • Basic knowledge of in-process & end-of-line test equipment for mechatronic systems
  • 8D problem solving

Specific Skills/Abilities

  • Excellent English written and oral skills, Swedish is a plus
  • An eye for detail
  • Proactive and goes beyond expectations
  • Has a can do attitude and an entrepreneurial spirit

About the company

Northvolt was founded in 2016 with the mission to build the world’s greenest battery cell, with a minimal carbon footprint and the highest ambitions for recycling, to enable the European transition to renewable energy. Northvolt’s team of experts is building the next generation battery cell factory focused on process innovation, scale and vertical integration. Once completed, it will be Europe’s largest battery cell factory and produce 32 GWh worth of capacity annually.
