Northvolt has an exciting greenfield project to offer a Project Manager (m/f/d) to take ownership of the EPC for one of Europes largest Dry and Clean room.

In joining us you will play an important part from the very start in building one of the first large scale European battery factories. Northvolt will play an important role in the transformation to a carbon free society.

As a Project Engineer (m/f/d) your responsibilities will cover steering both the design phase as well as directly controlling the execution phase of dry and clean rooms. On the other hand you will manage and coordinate project resources from Northvolt and ensure efficient collaboration and cooperation with other design managers. You will work closely with the Construction and Program Management teams with frequent travels.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Managing Northvolt partners, e.g. Package Suppliers, Integrators and installation partners in charge of the design, procurement and execution of dry and clean rooms.
  • Ensure constant collaboration and cooperation with the other design managers for an integrated and coordinated design of the battery factory Northvolt Zwei.
  • Manage and coordinate project resources from Northvolt to ensure assigned scope delivery during both the design, planning and execution phase.
  • Planning and coordination of installation, integration and commissioning of assigned scope.
  • Frequent interaction and coordination with design function, Procurement, Process, Construction and Material flow/factory control teams.
  • Day-to-day execution of installation and integration plan, meaning physically driving equipment integration on site for assigned scope.

Skills & Requirements

Education/Experience

  • A relevant university degree (B.Sc. / M.Sc. or similar). Engineering degree preferred but not required.
  • 5+ years working experience of clean & dry room design and construction.
  • Preferably experienced with working on large fast paced building/EPC projects.
  • Experience of C&D requirements in the battery, electronics, pharma, labs or food industries.

Specific Skills/Abilities

  • Technically focused with ability to scrutinize clean and dry room designs and provide constructive feedback for improvements
  • Excellent English written and oral skills, Swedish/German is a plus.
  • Highly organized and result-driven.
  • Proactive and goes beyond expectations.
  • Exceptionally good negotiation and problem-solving skills.
  • Has a “can do” attitude and an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Ability to work under high pressure and tight deadlines, excellent time management.

About the company

Northvolt was founded in 2016 with the mission to build the world’s greenest battery cell, with a minimal carbon footprint and the highest ambitions for recycling, to enable the European transition to renewable energy. Northvolt’s team of experts is building the next generation battery cell factory focused on process innovation, scale and vertical integration. Once completed, it will be Europe’s largest battery cell factory and produce 32 GWh worth of capacity annually.

We are currently in an exciting fast-growing phase and operate in a busy, fast moving environment, dealing with a wide range of stakeholders. We are staffing our international office in Stockholm, our R&D facility, Northvolt Labs, in Västerås, as well as our Gdansk facility for production of battery systems. We are also preparing for upcoming positions at the main factory, Northvolt Ett, in Skellefteå and Northvolt Zwei in Germany.

The Northvolt–Volkswagen Group joint venture is establishing a gigafactory in Salzgitter, Germany. Northvolt Zwei takes its design from the Northvolt blueprint for battery manufacturing developed for Northvolt Ett. Start of construction is planned for 2021 and start of operations beginning of 2024. Initial annual output will be at least 16 GWh.​
