An excellent opportunity to join an aspiring and innovative company in digital, precise and pervasive ergonomics risk assessment and work technique training, right at its start.

Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) and work injuries are the most common cause of occupational injuries in Europe. The cost of these injuries is estimated at around 50 billion SEK per year, only in Sweden. A first step towards preventing these injuries is a risk assessment of the workplace. Today this risk assessment is done through observations and manual assessment by ergonomists.

We have developed a wearable system for continuous assessment of ergonomic risk factors for the upper body, which gives instant feedback to the users, helping them to prevent Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSD). The system comprises a t-shirt with pockets on the arms and the back, holding wireless sensors that are connected to a smartphone app. The smartphone app notifies the user by sound and vibrations when the user is moving in a potentially harmful way. The system will be expanded to prevent MSD for other parts of the body, once the current version is established on the market

The system has been developed during several projects financed by AFA insurance, Vinnova, and EIT Health and in close collaboration with ergonomists and industrial users. Prototypes have been tested in several industrial settings with positive results. A market research project has verified the market opportunity, and a business driver and potential CEO will now be evaluated in parallel with the finalization of the MVP.

ErgoTech Nordic is a spin-off for the commercialization of our proven concept. Our goal is set and feasible- we want to take global leadership in occupational healthcare with a focus on risk assessment, prevention, and work-technique training.

To grasp this market opportunity and build and scale a company, our current team needs an entrepreneur to join as a co-founder to drive business development and potentially take on the CEO role.

  • We have a verified keen market interest by market analysis done through KTH Innovation

  • We have validated a prototype for upper body MSDs risk assessment and prevention tools in several industrial settings.

  • We have first paying beta-tester and several other in sales pipeline for our upper body MSDs risk assessment and prevention tool.

THE JOURNEY AHEAD

We need to finalize our business plan, initiate our sales processes and business development, and to build a robust platform for company growth, including e.g., business planning, strategies, and investor contacts. For this, we need an entrepreneurial and experienced new team member to help us on this challenging journey of transforming traditional occupational healthcare through the digitalization of ergonomics risk assessment and coaching of working techniques.

WHAT WE OFFER

During the first 4-6 months, the role will be structured as a part-time consultancy assignment. After that, the intention is that you will become the CEO and a part-owner of the company based on your work for the company.

Skills & Requirements

We are seeking a business developer with the potential and desire to take on the role of CEO in the next step of the development of the company. Your primary responsibilities will include developing our business plan, investor pitch, finding new customers and maintaining and developing existing customer relationships. You will be responsible for setting up the company’s business strategies and other vital aspects such as driving funding processes and setting up partnerships.

In order to succeed in the role, you most likely have:

  • Customer focus and a sales-oriented mindset
  • A strong drive, be a team player and highly capable of working independently.
  • Industry and/or start-up experience, preferably software-related business development and sales
  • MSc in engineering or business
  • Fluent in English and Swedish

About the company

ErgoTech Nordic is a spin-off from the research group "The Smart Workwear" at KTH Royal Institute of Technology and Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden. We have a solid technological, biomedical, and ergonomic base of five co-founders. The research has mainly financed through AFA Insurance Company, Vinnova, and EIT Health research and innovation projects. KTH Innovation supports ErgoTech Nordic for commercialization.
