Northvolt has an exciting job offer for a CE Project Manager to join our passionate team!

In joining us you will play an important part from the very start in building one of the first large scale European battery factories. Northvolt will play an important role in the transformation to a carbon free society.

The CE Project Manager – Equipment Purchasing will be in charge of

  • Supports Equipment Project Purchasing, Process Engineering and Quality to achieve the performance and quality committed to Northvolt by the supplier within his/her scope, and is representing Northvolt when discussing with suppliers.
  • Supports Project Purchasing and Process Engineering to manage the Change Orders with the equipment supplier, according to Northvolt internal process and according to the contract conditions.
  • Collaborates rigorously with equipment supplier to clarify and troubleshoot all stages of the value stream (both in-house and outsourced) that are presented with non-CE compliant issues and ensures that supplier gets the issues resolved promptly and in alignment with Northvolt’s Sourcing Plan.
  • Evaluates suppliers’ capabilities to identify Cost, Quality Delivery, Managerial improvements including innovations at equipment suppliers to help Project Purchasing and Process Engineering to achieve Best-in-Class competitiveness of Northvolt Programs
  • Helps Purchasing and Process Engineering to identify best-in-class equipment suppliers to meet the needs of Northvolt and recommends them to Purchasing.

Technical Scope:

Manufacturing Equipment, Measurement Equipment, Automation equipment, Material Handling Equipment, IT Systems, Maintenance and Service of Equipment, Calibration, Project Management.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Plan, organize, and direct the purchasing projects including development of CE compliant Sourcing Plan, Vendors Selection Plan together with Purchasing.
  • Develops a robust methodology for risk assessment and validate the equipment and its sub-systems for compliance with CE directives.
  • Work closely with equipment suppliers to guide and train suppliers to rigorously resolve each CE non-compliance issues.
  • Detailed planning of CE activities including RACI in the factory projects
  • Review and approve supplier CE activity plans
  • Review and approve equipment regarding CE marking
  • Support, guide and educate suppliers in EU directives and CE marking

Skills & Requirements

Education/Experience

  • Engineering MSc and/or MBA
  • At least 10 years of proven successful experience with automotive (car maker or Tier 1 supplier)
  • Experience from Consumer Electronics / Telecom, Specialty Chemical, or large EPC industrial project experience
  • Extensive international business experience, preferably exposure and experience with Chinese companies.
  • Deep understanding of the following EU directives, CE marking process and requirements for compliance:
    -2006/42/EC Machinery directive (MD) According to harmonized standards EN ISO 12100:2010 and EN 60204
    -2014/68/EU Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) According to harmonized standard SS-EN 13445
    -2014/35/EU Low Voltage Directive (LVD) According to harmonized standard EN 60204
    -2014/30/EU Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) According to SS-EN 60204
    -2014/34/EU Equipment for explosive atmospheres (ATEX)
