Northvolt has an exciting job offer for a Construction Engineer to join our passionate team in Stockholm. You will be working on the design for our Northvolt factories, frequent travels will be part of your work.

In joining us you will play an important part from the very start in building one of the first large scale European battery factories. Northvolt will play an important role in the transformation to a carbon free society.

As a Construction Engineer for Piping at Northvolt you will work with both coordination and execution. A central part of your job will be to coordinate contractors, consultants and internal design resources in the design phase. Furthermore, you will support in decisions and technical know how during execution phase of Northvolt Ett. A part of your assignment will also be to interact with process engineers where your work will be carried out in a highly international context.The role reports to a Construction Design Manager.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Creation of piping design procedures and specifications
  • Gathering the piping design requirements from the different disciplines.
  • Coordinating between piping design and other discipline designs
  • Quality assurance of piping engineering activities including the review and approval of associated piping documentation.
  • Client representative at design reviews and acceptance tests.
  • Provide technical support to the construction and commissioning teams.
  • Handover of the piping design documentation to the Maintenance and Operations Team

Skills & Requirements

Education/Experience

  • A degree in Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in industrial piping and plant layout design, preferably in both greenfield and brownfield settings.
  • Minimum 3 years relevant experience working in projects integrating both indoor and outdoor industrial processes.
  • Previous experience working as a piping engineer in all project phases from feasibility to construction and commissioning.
  • Experience in supporting other project functions with input, including estimating, scheduling, HSE risk assessments, and constructability reviews
  • Previous experience with large scale projects is strongly desirable but not essential
  • Familiarity with Swedish and European laws and standards is strongly desirable but not essential.
  • Fluent in either English or Swedish. Fluency in both languages is preferred as the role will require clear communication with both English and Swedish speakers

Specific Skills/Abilities

  • Strong experience with both 3D and 2D design tools such as PDMS, Plant3D or AUTOCAD
  • Experience in performing piping stress calculations using a piping stress calculation package such as CAEPIPE, CAESAR II or ROHR2
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work in a high profile and often high pressured international environment
