Gard is looking for a Solutions Architect to join our Digital Services team in Technology and Business Transformation (TBT). The right candidate has a balanced mix of technical and business understanding and see opportunities where others see challenges.

You will play an important role in the design and analysis of software projects and take a leading role during the implementation and improvement of new and existing systems. You will provide the necessary leadership, analysis and design tasks related to the development of an enterprise's solutions architecture. As a solutions architect you leverage and use technology solutions to enable the organization's future-state business capabilities that, in turn, drive the organization's targeted outcomes and facilitate and orchestrate the delivery of targeted business outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute in design of architecture principles and road maps
  • Ensure that systems and processes are managed according to governing architectural principles
  • Evaluate solution alternatives, technologies, products and suppliers
  • Understand business requirements and work with business & IT colleagues to understand how technology can be used to solve business requirements
  • Understand technology trends and the practical application of existing and new technologies to enable and develop business and operating models.
  • Collaborate and build strong relationships with the business, system owners, vendors and architects
  • Document solution architecture design and analysis work.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of working with people at all levels within and external to the business
  • Consultancy skills with qualities that will gain you trust and credibility within the organization
  • Demonstrate a commitment to quality, service and personal ownership
  • Knowledge about the insurance business or the capability to understand new business areas.
  • Excellent understanding of application development methodologies and infrastructure and network architecture
  • Excellent analytical and technical skills

Education & experience:

  • Bachelor or higher degree within Computer Science or similar lines of study
  • Knowledge of application architecture, software development, server, networking, security
  • Experience with architectural frameworks and modelling techniques such as TOGAF, ArchiMate, UML is preferred.
  • Have proven experience as architect or developer
  • Have knowledge of cloud-based architecture and platforms
  • Good understanding of strategic and new and emerging technology trends, and the practical application of existing, new and emerging technologies to new and evolving business and operating models
  • Understanding of agile methods and processes, and capability of supporting agile project teams by providing advice and guidance on opportunities, impact and risks, taking account of technical and architectural debt
